In no particular order other than tempo. 

A very brief summary this week as pushed for time so will let the playlist speak for itself.

As said last week with the vinyl and CD release of Kim Tibbs' album, which would have been last week's SoulStrutter Selection of the Week had it been released digitally, which it wasn't, but has been this week, so therefore it has been chosen. The playlist has been extended to fifteen tracks to accommodate three of the best tracks from it.

The Midnight Star vocalist/guitarist/drummer Melvin Gentry's solo album is picking up quite a bit of airplay. The new Zenesoul EP has two fresh tracks, one here and one in the Neo Soul Dirty Dozen.

The SoulStrutter selection of the best Neo Soul releases
for: Sep 2022 Wk 38 in no particular order.

This week's highlights are a few tracks from a good little debut EP ("Inevitable") from Peruvian singer Layla released on Tuesday. A new five track EP from Zenesoul, but three tracks have already been released, so there is one new track here an one in the main dozen. The first new single since 2018 from Lisa McClendon and singles from Arletis and Kalenbree, all posted here on day of release.

Tomike [2022] - Take Two [Self Released] (Full Album)


Tomike (Adetomike Jinad) was born in Dublin to Nigerian parents and now lives in London. She debuted in Apr 2019 with a single "On The Low" and has now released around fifteen singles and two EPs and released her debut album "Take Two" on 22 Sep 2022.

Her stated influences are Erykah Badu, Sade and Amy Winehouse and that comes through with her jazzy neo soul sound.

Four of the seven tracks have been released as singles: "Aren't Up For Debate" (Aug 2022), "Another Life" (Apr 2022), "Can't Find You" (Dec 2021), "It's Like" (Aug 2021).

KEDA [2022] - Don't Press Send... [Timeless Records] (Full EP)


This appears to be a debut EP from KEDA who has only released one previous single which is the opening track "WYD" in Jan 2020. 

It was initially released on 22 Aug and posted on 23 Aug but was withdrawn within days and has now been reissued on 22 Sep.

All of the songs on the six track EP "Don't Press Send..." are explicit and written by producer Floyd Timeless Thomas. It is very much an R&B flavoured EP.

Susanne Smith [2022] - I'm Different [Platinum Vybe Recordings]


Susanne Smith from Charlotte, NC, is back with one her best singles to date "I'm Different" last Friday (16 Sep 2022) which is a bit of a stepper. she released a remix of "I'm Not The One (No Can Do Remix)" in Dec which perhaps samples a line from Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That" (video included below).
