MeganV (Megan Victoria Buckley) released a five track EP "IntroV"
yesterday (24 Sep 2021). The first track on the EP "Angel" is the selected
track.
Another new artist with a debut release! Whether you would regard this as 'soul' music or not is up for debate. It's one of those neo soul / bordering indie pop to my ears but I do like the selected track.
As she's a new artist I'm not able to find any further info. about her.

Chicago's Tarrey Torae (Richardson) is not a name I've come across
before but she has been around for quite a while as she released an album
in 2005 as part of duo J. Ivy & Tarrey Torae.
J. Ivy is James Ivy Richardson II, the son of a well known Chicago DJ
with the same name but who went by the name Jim Richards on WVON. J. Ivy
and Tarrey Torae married in Sep 2005 after dating for six years. As
the album is titled "For Better Or Worse", I imagine it was recorded around
the time they married.
It would appear that she has been in heavy demand for background vocals
and as a featured artist as she is a six time Apollo winner and has
appeared on two Grammy winning albums by John Legend ("Get Lifted") and
Kanye West ("The College Drop Out").
She has performed on, and shared, stages with some legendary artists
which reads like a who's who of soul such as Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder,
Roy Ayers, Gil Scott-Heron, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Usher, Anthony
Hamilton to name just a few. Not only is she a singer but also a
songwriter and actor in theatre, film and TV.
Her debut solo album "The Sweetest Survivor" was self-released in 2018 with all the songs self-written.
Needless to say, she wrote her latest single "IN TIME" released on 23 Sep 2021. This is real quality, a well written, produced and delivered song.

Kenya Soulsinger (Kenya Lynn Whitlow from Edmond, Oklahoma) releases her sixth studio project (17 Sep 2021) and her first new material since "The Bridge" from 2018. It's a six track
EP titled "Catch This Smoke". At present it's only available directly from her website.
Her debut album "Groovy Way" (2011) was followed by "DJANGO" (2012), "The
Love You To Life" (2013), "Meet Me In The Glow" (2016) and "The Bridge"
(2018).
Kenya has opened for such artists as Rahsaan Patterson, Mint Condition,
Kem, Jeffrey Osborne, Howard Hewett, Kee Kee Wyatt, Lyfe Jennings, Silk,
The Whispers, Karen White, Urban Mystic, Angela Winbush, Bobby Valentino,
Lil G and Kandi. She continues to make her mark in the world of
Indie Soul!
She has released a video for the lead single "Train Ride" on her YouTube channel, which I've embedded below.
I've had the privilege of listening to the full EP and its excellent,
there's not a bad track. However, I have been requested not to post
it in full, only short samples.
It's timeless modern soul music. The EP opens with a smooth floaty
ballad/stepper "Unwind" and continues with a stepper "Tender Love". "Spend The Night" follows in the same vein as "Tender Love" and up next is the lead
single "Train Ride" (posted below). Kenya gets deeper on the next track "Here We Go" which is a soulful ballad. The CD closes with "Leave The Light On" which is another smooth and soulful, floaty ballad/stepper.

Khaliyah X (Khaliyah K Hayes) is from Chicago. She made her
first release in 2017 "Come And See Me" followed by a six track EP "Self
Portrait" in 2018 and a few singles since.
Her latest release "Just4TheSummer" is a five track EP released on 20 Sep 2021. The standout track
is "Silly Games" which got an airing on
The New Music Hour
last Friday (before release). I also quite like "Healing" and "Sneaky Link" is quite pleasant.

I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this
new release. I initially thought 'oh dear more 'has beens attempting a
come back', but that is definitely not the case. This track stands up with
the best releases currently around from Philly legends The
Intruders. "Only One" was written by Earl Lassiter and features Tommy
Brown.
I don't know who Tommy Brown is, perhaps he's the son of the original lead singer Sam 'Sonny' Brown(?) and am guessing that he's the one doing the rapping at 3:10 (20-30 secs).
If the song sounds familiar that's because Earl Lassiter recorded it in
1992 as Lassiter.
