The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2021... Part 20 (Jun 2021 Wk 24) Spotify Playlist

My selection of the best releases this week (Jun 2021 Wk 24).

After a very slow week, thankfully, there were loads of good releases on Friday. This week's SoulStrutter Selection of the Week was fairly easy to choose, Kadeem Tyrell & Omar - "All My Love" which probably won't need much promoting as I think it's a certainty to enter the Global Soul chart next week as I think it's easily the best neo soul release of the week.

The Global Soul Chart - 19th Jun 2021

Only four new new entries this week, all of which have already been posted.

V9 Collective stay at top spot for the second week with Conya Doss entering straight in at #2 with her new album "Through Rose-Colored Glasses" which must be a cert. for #1 next week as there are so many good tracks on it, it is bound to receive continual airplay.  My tip on Tessie still hasn't materialised, but good to see Niia and Isabel Eberdean enter the chart. This week's tip has to be Kadeem Tyrell & Omar' great new track "All My Love".

NB The podcast has an Interview with Nottingham duo Melonyx (Georgia Copeland and Nadia Latoya) which wasn't aired live.

Stephanie Mills [2021] - Let's Do the Right Thing [JM Records]

Yesterday (19 Jun 2021) Stephanie Mills released her first new music for several years ("Afraid To Love" 2015). It's a song she co-wrote with Marcus Malone which she states is "a reflection of the sadness and heartache  I’ve been feeling over the pandemic, George Floyd, and the systemic racism that plagues our people. “Let's Do the Right Thing'' is my personal plea for all people to rise up and come together".  Musically it's classic soul reminiscent of her 80s tunes.

Kenyatta Rashon [2021] - The Art Of Keeping It Real [Sew Komfy recording team] (Full Album)

Kenyatta Rashon from Ypsilanti, MI got her start at the age of 16 in musical theatre and in 2019 sang with  Kanye West (but we won't hold that against her!). She has just released her debut album "The Art Of Keeping It Real" on Friday (18 Jun 2021).

It's a very good album with "W.Rong" and "Bluez Cluez" probably being the standouts.

It contains a track called "Free" (which was released as a single on 4 Jun) whilst not a straight cover, contains elements of Deniece Williams' 1976 classic.

MIcky More & Andy Tee Feat. Angela Johnson [2021] - Not Your Average Kind [Groove Culture]

Those Italian house producers are at it again with a new single on their Groove Culture label featuring singer/songwriter Angela Johnson who was a member of NY group Cooly's Hot Box in the 90s/00s and has written songs recorded by Maysa and Conya Doss.

This one escaped on Thursday (17 Jun 2021) and has all the ingredients to tear up the Starpoint Soul chart.

The Beau Ties [2021] - Locked Down In Your Eyes [Self Released]

I stumbled across this on YT from French Riviera based group The Beau Ties. Whilst it's not particularly my cup of tea, it's the sort of thing that seems to do well on the Starpoint UK Soul Chart.

Danny Polo, DLJ, ØDYSSEE [2021] - Flights With You [Sundae Sauuce]

Danny Polo is originally from North Bergen, NJ but grew up in Ooltewah, TN.

He released his debut album "Just A Painting" last year and has released around eighteen singles since 2018. His latest single was released on Friday (18 Jun 2021) which is a pleasant and mellow affair with a few hints of jazz.
