Joseph Malik Feat. Ashley Beedle, Darren Morris & Jo Wallace [2021] - I Quit My 9 to 5 (North Street West Vocal Mix) [Ramrock Red Records]

A bit of Nu-Disco / Funk to end the day. Forget the original mix, it's this one (North Street West Vocal Mix), if any, you want, with the slapping bass line! I'm guessing the instrumental's beefy baseline will get heavily sampled by the hip-hoppers!

It reminds me a little of Chaka Khan's single from a year or so back (2018) 'Like Sugar', which in turn was sampled from Fatback Band's '(Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop'.

I hadn't realised until now that, in fact, Chaka Khan's version is actually a cover of a track that was on 'The Get Down' OST credited as Fatback Band & Sarah Ruba from 2016.

Lisa Love [2021] - 1000 Kisses [Bindelari Music]

I'm surprised that the latest single from Binky Womack 'Vitaman B' hasn't done better, but they did seem to withdraw it for a few days and then re-presented it, so that may well have confused the issue.

Around the same time (21 Apr 2021) his Bindelari Music label released a debut single by Lisa Love who supported him on his 'The Last Valentino' album last year. She featured on a duet with him on a cover of The Staple Singers (Curtis Mayfield written) 'Let's Do It Again' from 1975.

Adeline [2021] - 9 [Unity Rec]

The fifth single in as many months that Adeline (Michele) has appeared on already this year starting off in Jan with 'Whisper My Name', Feb: 'Mystic Lover', Mar: 'Mango(Remix)' with Kamauu & Masego and Apr: 'Took Me By Surprise' with Mark Lower. 

Not surprisingly, the New York, French-Caribbean immigrant from Paris already has around twenty singles and three albums (one's a remixed version of her second album) under her belt since first appearing solo in 2018, and that doesn't include all the appearances on other's recordings, you just have to take a glance at her SoundCloud page to see how prolific she is.

Prior to her solo career she was with New York Nu-Disco group Escort from around 2011.

Sherree Patrice [2021] - Deep Type [Brown Butterfly Entertainment Group]

The confusing Sherree Patrice who has changed her name several times from Sherre Ford and Sherree Ford-Payne in the 90s to Sherree Brown in the 00s (who gets confused with the other Sheree Brown from LA) and now she is known as Sherree Patrice.

At the end of March I posted two singles she released on 12th and 26th March. She has another new single released 7 May 2021 called 'Deep Type', which I think is the best of the the three.

You may be forgiven for not knowing her name as she has spent the large part of her career writing and performing background vocals for many legendary artists including Nancy Wilson, Al Jarreau and Whitney Houston, a well as touring with Chaka Khan and Mariah Carey to name just a few of the top ones. A quick glance at her discography on her website is mind boggling to see which artists and albums she's appeared with.
