Citrus Sun [2022] - Expansions [Expansion]

As Ralph Tee states in the release notes, few groups of musicians would be brave enough to tackle such an iconic jazz funk classic "Expansions", but the Incognito guys under the guise of Citrus Sun and in the capable hands of their producer, Bluey, have pulled it off. This rendition of the Lonnie Liston Smith masterpiece from 1975 was recorded in 2020 and became the title track of an album, further to which it has brewed on the underground dance scene building an insatiable appetite for a release on 12" vinyl. 

It's available digitally from Bandcamp and on limited 12" vinyl with an instrumental jazz funk creation "Hard Boiled" on the flip. both tracks are taken from the 2020 Dome album "Expansions & Visions".

Tamera [2022] - Killing Me Softly [Amazon Original]

Following Muni Long's Amazon Original single on 24 Feb here's another released today (8 Mar 2022) by Tamera with a contemporary cover of Roberta Flack's 1973 classic "Killing Me Softly" updated later by The Fugees & Lauryn Hill (1996).

She has posted a live video on her YouTube channel 2 hours ago and this on her facebook page literally an hour ago ... so this is hot off the press!

So, as you'd expect, it's only available from Amazon, click link or image below to be directed to it.

I've not come across her before and can't find a lot of information about her but it transpires she is Tamera Foster from Gravesend, Kent, and was a contestant in series 10 of X Factor in 2013. She entered as a 16 year old in a duo Silver Rock with Jerrie Bafundila (Jerrie Dila) but the judges saw the potential of each as solo artists and split them up. Tamera made the finals and came fifth in the competition mentored by Nicole Scherzinger.

She's released six singles and EP and two albums since 2019. Her latest release is a five track EP, "Afrodite", (18 Nov 2021) (the title apparently is a nod to her Greek and African heritage) with "Good Love", which features Tay Iwar, being the standout track.

Shar'dai Gabrielle (aka Shardai Derry) from Brooklyn, NYC, released a new single today (8 Mar 2022) "Swim".

Keyona Lashawn [2022] - 211 [Climax Entertainment] (Full EP)

Keyona Lashawn is a new artist from New Jersey who, after winning first place at The Apollo Theatre for her rendition of "I'd Rather Go Blind" in 2018, debuted with a single "Falling In Love" in 2020.

Her talent caught the attention of Freddie Jackson who signed her to his Climax Entertainment and is now her mentor.

Today, following  four single releases, she released her debut, self-written, five track EP titled "211". The standout track, for me, is "Time & Space".

Mica Millar [2022] - Girl [Golden Hour Music]

Mica Millar (from Manchester UK) is a new name to the blog who, to date, has released four singles (two have been remixed) and has a self-written, arranged and produced debut album "Heaven Knows" forthcoming in June.

She released the first single from the album "Preacher Man" on 28 Jan 2022 and another "Girl" today (8 Mar 2022).

Her debut single was "My Lover" released on 22 Mar 2017 which I have also included below as it is well worth hearing.

She states that her debut album draws inspiration from a plethora of vintage soundscapes: soul, blues, gospel and jazz with respectful nods paid to girl groups of the 60's and 70's, giving her songs a timelessness quality that is both reassuringly familiar yet distinctively hers.
