Kenya Vaun from Philadelphia is an artist we discovered via
her last single "Overrated" in Feb,(which was only her fourth single) has a follow up "Summer", which uses samples from Teddy Pendergrass' "Love T.K.O.".
Unlike so many other recordings, this does actually credit the original
writers (Gip Noble & Cecil Womack) and credits no fewer than 14
writers in total on this recording!
The song "Love T.K.O." was actually recorded first
by David Oliver as a single on Mercury in Jun 1980 before TP's, better known, version in Nov 1980.

One of three singles released by Sheree Hicks in the last couple of weeks ("Soul Ties" (21 Apr) and "Found Love" (1 May)) is "Thinking Of You" which is aCafe 432 Mix of a song she released in Apr '21.
Hints in places to Skipworth & Turner's 1985 hit "Thinking About Your
Love"?

Cynthia Tucker, along
with
James White, channels her inner Chaka on a soulful house remix by HouewerQof Rufus' 1977 single "Everlasting Love".
It is due out next week with another four mixes but we think this is the
best mix.
You may have noticed the post in the week that Chaka Khan has just been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the Musical Excellence Award category.

IQ Musique is DJ/producer/remixer Sithembela Mkhwanazi from
Soweto aka "the guy you don't know yet" and founder of Blu Lace music. He
released this gospel house thumper "God's Time" on Friday with a shorter Club Mix and a Acapella which I'm sure DJs/mixers will have fun with!

A one-off single by an outfit calling themselves The Chocolate Fudge Band which we suspect is a studio project of French producer of DJ/producer/remixer/musician DJ Fudge who has recruited the services of Mani Hoffman for vocals and vocal arrangement.
The tune is released by Dave Lee's Z Records a few weeks back on 21 Apr '23 and, we think, rather good.
If 5:54 isn't long enough for you an extended 6:57 version is available on Traxsource.

Reimagining, is the 'preferred' phrase we believe, for a cover of
Stephanie Mills' 1983 club hit "You Can't Run From My Love" credited to Kiko Navarro, Dj Pippi & Willie Graff feat. Angela
Johnson.

On Sundays we try to round up the best of the week's reissues. As it
was quite a busy week last week, there are not many, if any, around this
week so we will take our occasional dip into Traxsource and pick out
some of the more soulful dance tunes that are around.
Yvonne Gage has a massive underground following for her
1981 single "Garden Of Eve" and released one of the best albums of 2022 "Feel Love". The title track has been remixed by Maurice Joshua converting, what
was essentially a balled, into a soulful house tune.
It's set for release next Friday (12 May '23).

The highly anticipated debut album from
Bobby Harden & The Soulful Saints "Bridge Of Love" is due for release on Friday (12 May '23).
Five tracks have been released as singles since 2019's "Runnin' (To Get To Your Love)" and we have been fortunate to have a sneak preview of the album and can
share samples with you.
The two killer cuts must be the title track "Bridge Of Love" and last year's single "Feels So Good". The other two singles were "Wounded Hearts" (which was released as the flip to the 7" vinyl release of "Feels So
Good") and "One Night Of The Week" earlier this year.
That leaves five previously unreleased songs from the opening
Motownesque track ‘It’s My Time" through the throw-back psychedelia of "One Tribe", 'grits-n-bricks' R&B of "Played a Fool by You", the funky floater (couldn't resist) "Butterfly" and finishing with the uptempo "Raise Your Mind" (probably the pick of the new material).
The Soulful Saints have performed live and recorded together with acts such
as Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley & His
Extraordinaires, Lee Fields & The Expressions, The Budos Band, Mark
Ronson, Antibalas, The Impressions, & The Wu-Tang Clan.
The album is produced by Dala Records founder Billy 'The Kid'
Aukstik.
