Ed Summers v Joe Anderson

Two records that have been huge on the modern soul scene for decades and use the same backing are Ed Summers - I Can Tell and Joe Anderson - You And I.

Ed Summers [1980] - I Can Tell [Soya SO 1001]

The only release for both artist and label.  SOYA - Sound Of Young America was an independent Detroit label.

The backing track is the same as Joe Anderson but the lyrics are different. The writing credits on this release credits D. Jordan and E. Jordan rather than Andrew Smith.  I presume Dave Jordan wrote the music and Andrew Smith must have written the lyrics for Joe Anderson, therefore assume that E. Jordan wrote the lyrics for Ed Summers song.

This was Ed Summers ony release but he went on to produce Hunts Determination in the late 70s.

Ed Summers [1980] - Prepare Yourself [Soya SO 1001]

No sound clip available.

Joe Anderson [1975] - You And I [Buddah BDA 480] - Short Version

Written by David Jordan and Andrew Smith who wrote some great songs in 70s for the likes of Millie Jackson, Joe Simon, Garland Green, Debbie Taylor, Al Downing and Gloria Gaynor among others.

Joe Anderson [1975] - You And I [Buddah BDA 480] - Long Version

Joe Anderson released another 2 45s on Buddah in 70s.  There is also a Joe Anderson who released 2 45s on Heidi in 1965. I'm not sure whether or not this is the same artist, but have included these 3 45s at the bottom of the post as they may be of interest to those who like Northern / R&B.

Anderson joined the band Eramus Hall (named after a building in Chicago by George Clinton) in the late 70s.

Joe Anderson [1974] - You Gotta Believe [Buddah BDA 436]

COVID-19 7th April 2020

Summary

The critical news today is that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to intensive care unit at St Thomas's Hospital at 7pm last night after his COVID-19 symptoms worsened and we all wish him well for a speedy recovery.

In Italy new cases have dropped below 4,000 (3,599) for the first day since the peak of 6,557 on 21 Mar.

US new cases rise again by 5,015 (30,331) after yesterday's drop to 25,316.

New cases in Spain drop to their lowest since 23 Mar but still remain over 5,000 per day.

New cases in Germany drop to their lowest (3,252) since 23 Mar.

In France new cases have risen by 2,886 on yesterday.

In UK, thankfully, new cases are down by 2,101 (3,802) from yesterday's high (5,903) and deaths are also lower by 182.  UK is at day 14 of the government lockdown so let us hope that yesterday's high was the peak.

As predicted on 31Mar, UK total cases are now over 50,000 (51,608), 6 days after they hit 25,000 exactly in line with Italy's trajectory.
IT: 24,747 on 15 Mar 53,578 on 21 Mar
UK: 25,150 on 31 Mar 51,608 on 6 Apr

The next 'milestones' to watch out for are 75,000 in approx 4/5 days (10/11 Apr) and 100,000 in 9 days (15 Apr).  In all likelihood, I suspect that this time next week UK will be approaching 100,000 cases in line with Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

DE increased from 62,435 to100,123 in one week
ES increased from 49,515 to 104,118 in one week
IT increased from 59,138 to 97,689 in one week
FR have increased from 44,550 to 98,010 in the last week
