Reel People Music begins a new series, Fusion Moves, where they offer musicians the opportunity of breathing new life into its back catalogue by reinterpreting and remixing Reel People releases of their choice.

To get things started the baton was handed to Belfast's Kaidi Tathum who's selected ten songs to apply his magic to. The songs may be familiar but not with the new mixes of them.

Sarah O'Moore [2024] - Troubled Mind [Self Released]

With a vintage, black, jazz sounding vocal (think Nina Simone, Big Maybelle, Billie Holiday and a contemporary, Lady Blackbird), it may come as a surprise (apart from her obvious cute blonde and blue-eyed looks) to learn that singer/songwriter Sarah O'Moore is white and Irish.

Originating in Cork she obtained a degree in Bristol and now lives in Berlin. She has, to date, released just four singles since her first in Jul '21, but is working on a debut EP "Social Paralysis" due on 28 Apr. Her writing, she says, delves into the shadows of societal decay influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Van Morrison.

Her fourth single, "Troubled Mind", is released today and is not for the faint-hearted as we think her sound and message (the song delves into themes of addiction, domestic strife, and the challenges faced by today’s youth) you will either love or hate. It's most certainly not what you would term 'easy listening' that's for sure, but then music isn't, and shouldn't be, all about dancing around a handbag to twee meaningless lyrics.

Grace Weber [2024] - Do4Me (They Have The Range Remix) [Self Released]

Yet another song today that has been released before comes from Grace Weber with a remix of "Do4Me" originally released in Aug '23 and was her last single. The release contains both the original and remix.

Weber is from Wisconsin, currently residing in L.A, and was signed to Capitol from 2018 but independently released her first album "A Beautiful Space" in Jun '21, a Deluxe edition followed in Oct '21. Her next album, "Paperflower", was released in September last year which included "Do4Me".

The Brit Funk Association [2024] - Take It In Stages [Expansion Records] (Full EP)

The second release today from Ralph Tee's Expansion Records is a four track EP "Take It In Stages" by The Brit Funk Association with two new versions of tracks from their "Ancestral Voices" album (1 Dec 2023) and two new songs.

It is essentially the second single, a Georgie B Remix of "Take It In Stages (Write Those Pages)", combined with the full length 8:33 version of the album title track (released for the first time) along with two brand new songs, "Chasin' The Rain" and "A Cosmic Love Song".

The Brit Funk Association is a collaboration of members of 70s/80s UK soul/funk bands such as Light Of The World (Peter Hinds, Kenny Wellington, David Baptiste (Peter Hinds was also a member of Atmosfear and the last two were also in Beggar & Co)), Central Line (Steve Salvari) and Hi-Tension (Paul & Patrick McLean) and occasionally members of  Incognito.

SAYGRACE feat. Solomon [2024] - twentyfourseven [Self Released]

Released on 8 Mar was SAYGRACE's solo version of "twentyfourseven" (music video below) which is released again today as a duet with NW London's Solomon Newman White who, if you recall, released a cover of Thee Sacred Soul's "Can I Call You Rose?" two weeks ago on 15 Mar.

SAYGRACE is 26 yr old, Grammy nominated, multiple platinum selling L.A. based, Australian (Brisbane) born singer/songwriter Grace Sewell. She began working with Quincy Jones at 16 and recorded her debut single, a cover of the Madara/White song "You Don't Own Me", a signature  song for 17 yr old Lesley Gore in 1963. Quincy Jones also produced Gore's version and SAYGRACE's was released a month after Gore's death aged 68 (Feb 2015) on 17 Mar 2015. It went multiple (3x) platinum and was used in the UK for House Of Fraser's Christmas TV commercial.

She is due to release an 18 track project this year, with "twentyfourseven" being the first song from it.
