Sampology [2021] - Running Around (Regrowth LP) [Middle Name Records]

Sampology (Sam Poggioli) is a DJ/producer from Brisbane out the same camp as The Middle Name Band (i.e. Middle Name Records) who have featured here a couple of times with "Weekend Love Chant" and with Natalie Slade on "Love Bite". 

In 2019 he was invited by Gilles Peterson to join Worldwide FM (WWFM) where he does a monthly show.

"Running Around" is another track featured on The New Music Hour (Global Soul radio) tonight night, which is a bit out of character for FS's general style, but what a groove. I could see this being pumped out to modern soul dancefloors but for the fading/sound effects which probably wouldn't go down too well!

It's from Sampology's first full length album "Regrowth" (released 3 Sep 2021), although he's released several EPs which gets confusing on DSPs with albums being called EPs and vice versa! I'm not sure how to categorise this but I've gone with soulful house as the tempo and feel is about right.

Indigo Rose [2021] - LUV [Self Released] (Full EP)

Indigo Rose is another Canadian artist (from Calgary) making her the third posted today (Kitt, and Chanel Fyffe)! "LUV" is her second EP release following her 2019 debut EP "Indiglo", having already released two singles in 2018.

The new EP (released 15 Sep 2021) contains three tracks. "LUV" was played on The New Music hour tonight by Franklin Sinclair which directed me to the EP. My favourite is the lead track "Baesong" but all three tracks are all pretty good.

Vince Bryant [2021] - Gitwitu [Wartime Music]

A real day for the débuters/débutées! Here's yet another Vince Bryant "Gitwitu" and what a tune .. best of the day, shame about the rap but it is what it is! 

No info available nor can I find any social media for him, so, for now, he's a mystery! I'd be surprised if this guy is a newcomer as his voice sounds 'worn in', so I'd imagine he may have been with a group at some point in his career.

Vince is a US Marine veteran originally from San Antonio, TX. He served two terms in Iraq and subsequently suffered from PTSD. He has made a short documentary about his experience with the title "Leonardo" dedicated to his father who departed in 2020. He now helps other veterans by sharing his story.

Chanel Fyffe [2021] - Thirty One [Fruitful Glory Arts] (Full EP)

Chanel Fyffe is yet another new artist from that hotbed of neo soul Toronto, Scarborough to be exact. She released her debut five track EP "Thirty One" today (17 Sep 2021). 

It's a bit of an assortment with the standout track being "Hard" (which has a bit of a 90's 'TLC' kinda vibe). Two of the tracks have already been released as singles "I Want A Connection (IWAC)" (May 2021) and "Focus" (Feb 2021) and she released a debut single "Stop Fighting Your Fate" in 2017.

I found a very endearing video on her YouTube channel of her excitedly, 'unboxing' a delivery of her CD (below). This is what new music means to artists.

Lori Wall [2021] - Ride This Wave [Fervor Records]

Released today (17 Sep 2021) is a single from Lori Walls titled "Ride This Wave". A few things suggest to me that this may be an old song that has only now been released, 

First it sounds like it could be from the nineties/noughties, second that it has been released by Fervour who generally specialise in reissues and thirdly the only other recording I can find that she appeared on was in 1993, a track called "Got To Keep Dancing" by Jambox featuring Lori Michaels & Lori Wall (which is actually a dance/house track). I am only surmising and could be completely wrong but that's my instinct. Not that it matters as this is a quite nice modern soul stepper.
