Nigel Hall & DJ Harrison [2024] - Earth, Wind & Fire [Regime Music Group]

The lead single from a forthcoming album of EWF covers, "The Burning Bush: A Journey Through the Music of Earth, Wind & Fire", by Nigel Hall & DJ Harrison (due on 10 May) has been pre-released. The song is "Earth, Wind & Fire" taken from their 1976 "Spirit" album.

Nigel Hall should need no introduction as he's a member (vocalist/keyboardist) of funk band Lettuce.

DJ Harrison from Richmond, VA, is an active member of Butcher Brown.

Sūn Byrd [2024] - Hey Love [Self Released] (Full EP)

Sūn Byrd is a newly formed six-piece band from Oslo consisting of Johan Helland (vocals), Audun Reknes (keys), Kristoffer Lippestad (sax), Lyder Røed (trumpet), Markus Hafsund Gundersen (bass) and Bård Berg (drums).

They released their debut single "Half The Truth" on 11 Jan which we rated highly and announced that they will be releasing their eponymous debut album on 12 April. In the meantime, as a taster, they have released a four track EP containing all four singles released to date, with the latest addition being the funky "Hey Love". It's essentially their latest single bundled with their first three.

Based upon the first four singles the album is looking / sounding very good indeed, so we look forward to hearing it in full.

Marsha Ambrosius [2024] - One Night Stand [Aftermath Records]

The new single "One Night Stand" from Marsha Ambrosius has a host of well known writer credits for samples used. It samples "All Night Long" (Mary Jane Girls) (although Rick James isn't credited) and "Remind Me" (Patrice Rushen), that we can hear, and possibly others that we can't detect.

The version on Spotify is the explicit one but there is a clean version available on Amazon (link on image below).

Ambrosius is originally from Liverpool and was one half of duo Floetry with Natalie Stewart. She went solo in 2011 and has now released three solo albums and almost twenty singles. This one being only her second since 2020.

The single was co-produced with Dr. Dre and Erik "Blu2th" Griggs who re-released  "Back To Euphoria" only a few weeks ago.

Sophia Bromberg [2024] - aloe [Self Released]

The Voice 2021 finalist Sophia Bromberg releases her fifth single since her appearance on the show aged 16 mentored by Arianna Grande.

The latest single "aloe" follows "sesame" (Sep '23) which in turn followed "Cardamom Princess" (Aug '22), all self-written songs, so she seems to have an affinity with plants/seeds!
