Tom Bailey and Ledisi tracks were featured and recommended here on their day of release (23 Apr and 30 Apr respectively) so I'm pleased to see them both entering the chart this week, as well as the mystery David Scott (featured the day after release) whose double-sider enters the Top 10. Michon Young was probably odds on to reach the top after release on 30/04/2021.

The Global Soul Chart - 15th May 2021 - The Essential 5 & The Breakers

This week's 'Essential 5' and 'The Breakers' played by Franklin Sinclair on his Global Soul Chart Show which is aired between 5pm-7pm every Saturday on Global Soul Radio.

He plays the Essential 5 at the start of the show, whilst The Breakers are interspersed between chart entries.

Jon Santana & Ash Leone Feat. INFAMOUSIZAK [2021] - No Pressure [Self Released]

Jon Santana is a producer from Nashville. The album that this track is taken from was released 20 Apr last year and has been reissued as an extended version with piano versions of the original seven tracks, plus an additional version of 'Corners'. 

The track currently receiving interest and airplay is 'No Pressure', but technically it's not a new release as it was released 24 Apr 2020 originally.

The female vocalist is Ash Leone whose latest single 'Hungry' was posted on 23 Apr 2021.

INFAMOUSIZAK is a rapper from South London.

The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2021... Part 15 (May 2021 Wk 19) Spotify Playlist

My selection of the best releases this week (May 2021 Wk 19). 

It's probably been one of the toughest weeks so far this year for new releases so it wasn't too difficult selecting the top 12 as the cream always rises to the top, although I suspect that some of these may not have featured in other weeks. 

My selected track of the week is Nicholas Davis with 'Let's Work It Out' (a close contest with Mac Ayres), so that will stay on the home page for a week and hopefully get it some further attention. It's coincidental that it's the first track in the Spotify list, as these aren't in order of 'merit' just BPM with the slower ones building up to the faster ones. 

A couple of retro tracks (from The Bamboos & Maria Sanchez) that may have been in the list, I've moved into the Covers/Reissue etc. dozen as that list was a bit sparse this week.

The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2021... Covers, Reissues, Remixes & Samples Part 10 (May 2021 Wk 19)

My selection of this week's best cover versions, remixes, reissues, previously unreleased and new songs using samples (May 2021 Wk 19). (In no particular order).

The list was a bit sparse this so week so I've added a few tracks, which, although new releases, I consider have a retro vibe e.g. Roland Johnson, Vandellas, Bamboos, Miriam & The Quinces, The Love Station and Maria Sanchez, otherwise the list would have been pretty short.

TruSoul Davis [2021] - Right Here (DJ Mystique Remix) [White Lion Audio]

Cleveland's TruSoul Davis' last album 'Soul Fiyah', released on valentines day, did well on the soul charts. One of the tracks 'Right Here' has had a DJ Mystique remix and set loose on Friday (14 May 2021).

Dawkins & Dawkins [2021] - In My Feelings [Legacy Music Group]

Contemporary, urban gospel from veterans Anson & Eric Dawkins who at one time were members of Commissioned, but went solo in 1992. They have a new (?) single released 14 May 2021 by Legacy Music, so is it something that's been in the can a while?

I have to confess, it's not really my 'cup o' tea' as it's a bit too R&B oriented for me.

Greentea Peng [2021] - Dingaling / Kali V2 / Nah It Ain't The Same (Man Made LP) [AMF Records]

Definitely not one for the traditionalists! An emerging artist from Bermondsey (SE London) has pre-released three tracks from her forthcoming debut album 'Man Made' due 4 Jun 2021. The latest is Dingaling released 14 May 2021. I've embedded videos for all three below.

Greentea Peng (aka Aria Wells) blends R&B/neo soul/Hip-hop/jazz and broken beats which she describes as psychedelic R&B. Her name comes from her love of green tea (peng is London slang for something you like). She debuted in 2018 and has released almost twenty singles/EPs since.

Symphani Soto [2021] - Try [Bizness Boi Music Group]

Symphani Soto rose to fame with a beauty channel on YT and debuted with her singing in 2017 with 'What you Want'. Her latest single was released 30 Apr 2021, which will be her third single this year. This is the best of the three which all veer on the R&B side, but 'Energy', released in March is worth a listen.
