Dee C. Lee [2023] - Don't Forget About Love / Be There In The Morning [Acid Jazz]

If you've been around the block any length of time then the name Dee C. Lee (Diane Sealy) will be familiar to you as a member of Wham and later The Style Council. In fact she married the Mod father Paul Weller in 1987 but they divorced in 1998. 

Her singing career began even earlier than that with the London band Central Line as Dee Sealy in 1981. Dee has also supported Animal Nightlife and the Blow Monkeys amongst others.

Acid Jazz are releasing a double A side single from her on vinyl on 20 Oct but it will be available digitally on Friday (29 Sep). The lead side "Don't Forget About Love" is co-written by Dee with Mike McEvoy and Ernest McKone. The other side is a cover of Renee Geyer's "Be There In The Morning". It's Dee's first new music for 25 years.

Miss Louistine / Joe Hinton [2023] - Extra Extra / I'm Gonna Stay With Sugar [Kent #6T 38] - The 100 Club 44th Anniversary Single

The annual 'greed fest' has commenced! So you turn up at the 100 Club 44th Anniversary all-nighter on Saturday (23 Sep) and are handed a freebie 45. Then in the next couple of days ebay is flooded with them, some with a 'starting' price of £300. There are four currently listed on Discogs ranging from £170-£200 with one already sold on 24 Sep for £200 ... bargain! We wonder which part of "NOT FOR SALE" emblazoned on the label is incomprehensible 🤣?

UPDATE: 28 Sep ... the current bid on the £300 starting price listing above is now £620 (and the listing doesn't end until Sunday at 17:19) .. quite unbelievable really!!

Both sides are, presumably, previously unreleased: Miss Louistine "Extra Extra" / Joe Hinton  "I'm Gonna Stay With Sugar".

Juanita Wynn [2023] - We Need This [Vulnerable Records]

Released yesterday is the new single, "We Need This", from Juanita Wynn who we last heard from featuring on Joe Leavy's "Soul On Fire" album, and more specifically on the last single "Give It Right". 

Her last solo single was "The One" a year ago in Sep '22 which followed the excellent "Make It Right" (Jul '22). We were told that the second song was part of  a quadrilogy, 'Blood, Sweat & Tears', so we should be treated to the final piece in due course.

A quick recap on Ms Wynn: She is a Grammy award winning song writer who began writing for Quincy Jones Music Publishing. She went on to sign for Sony ATV writing for Diana Ross, Angie Stone. Shirley Murdock, Norman Brown, Destiny's Child and more recently Lalah Hathaway amongst many others. She received her Grammy for Lalah's "Lalah Live!" in 2015.

VA [2023] - With Love: Volume 2 (Compiled by Miche) [Mr Bongo Records #MRBCDLP280]

To our estimation, at current Discogs values, there is approx. £9k worth of tunes on this second eclectic Miche compilation, "With Love: Volume 2", from Mr Bongo Records.  

There's some really obscure Latin music from South America and a few known modern soul tunes amongst the 15 tracks and as a bonus we received a 16th track which is only available on the CD release.

The follow up volume to "With Love Volume 1" is more focused on the dancefloor. One of Miche's highlights is an anthemic gospel version of Stevie Wonder's 'As' by The Family Tree (a project produced by Julius Brockington which, according to Discogs (which isn't always 100% reliable) lists Sharon "I Specialize In Love" Brown as a member. 

For the modern soulies, Cecil Lyde, Freedom and The Eleventh Commandment are well worth the 'admission charge' alone as that's over two grand's worth of original wax right here!

The compilation is set for release on 6 Oct. It will be available digitally, on CD, Cassette and on limited edition 2 x Pink Vinyl LP or 2 x Black Vinyl LP.
