The latest album from guitarist Marcus Machado is a collection of
songs he wrote for the score of a 2017 independent film "Blue
Diamonds" which he considered releasing as his debut album. However, he felt it was more like a 70s soundtrack so decided to
finish "Aquarius Dream" and release that first. Now, in mid 2023, he's
released it as his second album.
In 2016, Rolling Stone magazine named Macahdo as "Next Young Gun" and
he's become one of the most in demand young guitarist in the world.
He's performed with such luminaries as Anderson.Paak, Robert Glasper,
Lalah Hathaway, Pete Rock and Georgia Ann Muldrow.
He's collaborated with multiple Grammy award winning
producer/keyboard player Robert Glasper on the music score for the
Emmy award winning SHO documentary 'Apollo" and the NAACP Award
winning, and Oscar nominated, documentary "Mr. Soul". He collaborated with
Lalah Hathaway and Robert Glasper on the film's track title "Show Me
Your Soul".
He also produced the score for 2019 documentary "Contact High: A
Visual History of Hip-Hop".
Many of the tracks are instrumental but the clear standout has to be
"Let Me Know" feat. Rojo Lavoe along with "Bittersweet" feat. ex Family Stand lead Sandra St. Victor.
