Taken from Lindsey Webster's recent album "Reasons" is a Radio Edit of one of the most played tracks "I'm OK". It shortens the 6:06 album cut down to a more radio friendly 4:42 for a her next single release. No release date has been provided but would guess that it may be out this Friday?

Lindsey has just completed two sold out London dates as well as another at  The Maude, Leek.

Anita Baker [2023] The Songstress Tour

Anita Baker celebrates her 65th birthday on 26 Jan 2023, and also the 40th anniversary of her debut solo album, with a 15 city US tour, "The Songstress" tour, running until Dec 2023. She is also currently completing some new music, so although she may not be coming to UK/Europe we may still get to hear some new music from her in the new year. 

Supporting her on the tour will be Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds who she duetted with on "Like You Used To" from her last studio album "My Everything" in 2004. They have no fewer than twenty Grammy awards between them, Baker eight and Edmonds twelve!

So why not post her debut album, is it really 40 years old? It's most certainly one of the albums of the 80s which I distinctly remember being on constant rotation in my ear lobes along with Luther's "The Night I Fell In Love" and "Give Me The Reason" albums around the same time.

The Cotswold Park Soul Weekender 2023

The seventh Cotswold Park Soul Weekender takes place on Fri 24 Feb 2023 at 6:00 PM through to Sun 26 Feb 2023 9:00 PM GMT at the luxurious 4 star The Devere Cotswold Water Park Hotel, GL7 5FP.

The event has exclusive use of the whole hotel and can now provide the full luxury weekend experience for 600 people. The room rate includes dinner Friday and Saturday and breakfast brunch Saturday and Sunday and free access to the onsite Spa, pool and gym.

Soul, Funk, Jazz-Funk, Jazz and House across the 3 rooms with a host of the finest DJ’s, including Dr. Bob Jones, Soul Essence mainstays Gavin Page and Bob Cosby along with fellow Leighton Buzzarder Shaun Evans, rare groove and modern soul man Paul Collins and and from the US KP McGoff along with a whole host of others (see flyer).

Live acts appearing are on Friday Mamas Gun and Saturday Snowboy & The Latin Section (posted only yesterday for his version of Lucky Fellow), who will also be doing a Jazz Room DJ set and all the way from the U.S.A. Dennis Taylor.

Victor Haynes [2022] - Love Is The Answer [Expansion] (Full Album)

The title track of Victor Haynes' forthcoming album "Love Is The Answer" was posted last week and we have the privilege of receiving the full album in advance of release on Friday (2 Dec '22) to give you a preview.

Victor released the first single from the album "Back To Love" on 7 Oct and followed it on 18 Nov with two mixes of "Newsflash".

Victor Haynes is one of the most respected names in UK soul music whose career has now spanned four decades releasing his first album in 1994. His smooth and sophisticated vocal style merges soul and jazz classics with original compositions. He started his professional singing career after giving up his business designing and making jewellery and moved to London working with artists such as Jaki Graham, David Grant, Heatwave’s Derek Bramble and Rod Temperton. His versatility made him a first call when artists like Edwin Starr, The Drifters, Curtis Mayfield, The Temptations, The Real Thing and The Crusaders needed support for their UK shows.

After moving back to his native Manchester he entered a songwriting and recording partnership with producer, arranger, keyboard player Pete May and began to attract attention, radio airplay and a recording deal.

His latest album will be his fifth, and fourth for Expansion Records, and follows the well received "Can We Talk" from Sep 2021.

LaTasha Spencer [2022] - Pressing On [MoonTown Records] OUT TODAY

Posted a couple of weeks ago from promo courtesy of DJ Bigger was the new single "Pressing On" from LaTasha Spencer. It is officially released today (28 Sep '22) and surprisingly comes in six different mixes. On the first track producer Herb Middleton gives a little background regarding the cover of Vanessa Bell Armstrong's 1987 album track.

Latasha Spencer (Jordan) was born in Harlem, NY, in 1973 and grew up with gospel music with her aunt having sung with Sam Cooke and grandmother with James Cleveland.

At the age of ten she was consistently winning Amateur Night shows at the legendary Apollo Theatre, so many (nine in total) that in fact she was told that she was no longer able to compete.

She was playing clubs and appearing on TV shows from the age of eleven. However, she went back to her gospel roots but is now embarking on a new era and has reunited with her first producer Herb Middleton for a new single "Pressing On" which will be available from Herb Middleton Music website on 28 Nov '22.

Sandra-Mae Lux [2022] - I’m Still Here / The Last Time [Self Released] NOW ON BANDCAMP

A 7" vinyl release of two tracks from Sandra-Mae Lux. is now available to purchase via Bandcamp.

The A side "I’m Still Here" is from her 2020 debut album "Happily Ever After". The flip "The Last Time" is a brand new, self-produced, song co-written with her writing partner Alan Marriott, for which there is no sample for on Bandcamp so a short sample is included below.

The single is an independent/self release and is being distributed by Global:Soul Radio and is available from their store and also Simply Soul from 21 Nov '22. 

Sandra-Mae is a singer/songwriter/producer from Vancouver, Canada, now living in London, who has a Batchelor of Music in Jazz Studies on Saxophone and has performed with Robert Glasper, Herbie Hancock and has opened for Dave Brubeck.

She broke through in 2020 with her debut album and was nominated for two awards: Best UK Artist in the 2020 Bright Star Awards and Jazz Artist of the Year in the Boisdales Music Awards.
