As we relayed to you last week, Jalen Ngonda's current UK dates have all been postponed owing to illness.

Thankfully Jalen is on the mend and has now announced the rescheduled dates. If you have bought tickets for the postponed dates then they will be valid for the rescheduled dates and your ticket provider will be in contact with more details.

Adam Hawley Live @ Pizza Express, Holburn, London 20 & 21 May 2024

Following the release of his latest album "Unstoppable" (released on Friday) Hampstead Jazz Club has just announced two dates for jazz guitarist Adam Hawley at Pizza Express, Holburn (London) in May.

The first night on 20th May is billed as 'All The Hits!'. The following evening (21st May) he is joined by his wife Kat Hawley for 'Album Release Party!', a show to introduce her debut album which is to be released this summer.

Both shows will have entirely different playlists so you can safely book both nights for two different shows.

Michelle David & The True-tones European Tour Dates 2024

To promote their new album "Brothers & Sisters" due on 5 Apr, Michelle David & The True-tones has announced the first run of 22 European dates commencing 31 Mar through to 30 Jun '24.

More dates, presumably including some in the UK?, are still to be confirmed.

The group has just signed to Milan based Record Kicks and this is their debut release for the label, The title track was released as single in Feb (live performance below).

Natasha Watts [2023] - Music Is My Life - Album Launch Event 22 Sep 2023

Further to yesterday's announcement of the general album release of Natasha Watt's fourth studio album "Music Is My Life" on 22 Sep '23, we learn today that she will be holding an album launch event the same day at The Forge, Camden, London.

The event starts at 19:00 with tickets available HERE. Early Bird tickets are just £15 + £1.50 booking fee.

The album is currently only available direct from NatashaWatts.com.

We've included the music video for possibly the killer cut that has garnered much airplay "I Do, I Did, I'm Done" and came across a live recording of the song she did in Osaka in 2019 with 'A Hundred Birds' included on their live album.

Leroy Hutson [2023] - @In The Round Festival, London 18 Apr 2023

As if by magic, after a reference to him in the earlier Donny Hathaway tribute (as he co-wrote The Ghetto), we've just discovered that Leroy Hutson will be performing in London on 18 Apr 2023.

He will appearing with his Magic Makers Band as one a several artists at In The Round Festival at the Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Rd, London, NW1 8EH.

Gloria Scott UK Tour 2023

Gloria Scott, who released her first album in almost 50 years last September, will be touring the UK this year.

Scott got her start after being discovered by Sly Stewart (Sly & The Family Stone) in the early 60s whilst still at High School in San Francisco. She was born in Port Arthur, TX, on 27 Feb 1948 and raised in Houston before moving to San Francisco in her early teens

Stewart wrote and produced her first recording in 1964 aged 18 as Gloria Scott & The Tonettes "I Taught Him Pts 1 & 2" released on Warner Bros. which sunk without trace. She then auditioned for The Ikettes but left soon afterwards as she didn't respect Ike Turner's strict discipline and fining regime.

In the early 70s she met Barry White whilst performing as a backing singer who signed her on a 7 year contract and got her a deal with Casablanca and produced her debut album "What Am I Gonna Do". Unfortunately for Scott, at around the same time White's star was rising and he was having hit after hit and Casablanca, being a start-up label at the time, failed to promote the album and White wasn't around to help as his career rise was stratospheric, and that was just about that for Gloria after the album didn't sell well.

She did record another album with H.B. Barnum which never got released and then became a backing singer for Mary Wilson (The Supremes) on her self-titled debut album in 1979.

Fast forward to the 90s and she was living and singing in Guam (in the south Pacific) (where she lived for 8 years) when a tourist approached her saying that he knew her name and relayed the fact that her album, and one song from it in particular (which had only been released as single in Australia) was very popular on the UK/European rare soul scene. That song of course being "(A Case Of) Too Much Love Makin'" which was covered by Lisa Stansfield on her 1993 album "So Natural".

Then in the mid 2000s she was approached by Andrew McGuiness who promotes the Baltic Soul Weekenders in Germany to perform at the weekender, which she has done every year since 2008.

McGuiness learnt that she had some unreleased recordings in the can and encouraged her to release them (along with new material) on a new album which she did last year and "So Wonderful" was released on 30 Sep by Acid Jazz.
