We've been sitting on this album for a week or two mainly because the
artist has been so prolific releasing no fewer than six albums already this year, four in January and two in
February.
We posted an album from him, "I'M SO FORTUNATE", in Sep 2022 and a single "Tell Her, a timeless, deepish, slow jam / soul ballad, in Oct which is included
on his latest album "Let's Go Everybody". At that time we highlighted that then, since 2021, he had released over thirty singles and three albums, many under the moniker
of DAVEON.
Eleven of the twelve tracks are original songs, with a good cover of Sly
& The Family Stone's "Everyday People". The latter, along with "Tell Her" (which I guess is technically a reissue, although it may be the first
time featured on an album, but haven't checked all his previous albums) and
"Do U Think Of Me" being the standout tracks. In fact, the more I listen to this album, the
more tracks emerge (especially if you like deep and soulful ballads) so add "The Time Is Now" to the list. One to listen
to a few times to fully appreciate, along with the other five released this year so far!
DAVEON #1 is Daveon Overton (he seems to use Horton for writing credits i.e. Daveon Sr Horton) from south side Chicago who moved to L.A. in the early 80s to
join Motown who were putting a group together but ended up becoming
a writer with Jobete Music. He released an album "It's So Good" on Empie in 1987 and was a member of Mind, Heart & Soul who released a self-titled album on Motown in 1995.

Hi Mark its Daveon Overton and the album was on Empie not empire obviously you dont need to post this just for your info. cheers mate
Hi shrimperman ... Thanks for your comment. I did actually have Overton initially (if you check link for "I'm So Fortunate') but, whether or not he's changed his name I'm not sure, as the writing credits on all tracks on this album (and others checked) now states Daveon Sr Horton .. (it would be a coincidence if another Daveon wrote the songs? .. but not impossible I guess). So perhaps he uses that name for writing credits? So now amended. Thanks
