Donny Sykes [2022] - Out Of Darkness [Limitless Skyz Entertainment]

I think the new single from Donny Sykes (which appears to be only his second) may be a bit of a Marmite song, in that some will love it and others hate it, as perhaps it may be considered a little over sentimental and over dramatic with a rock style guitar around 3 minutes in. "Out Of Darkness" starts off with the first line from the American national anthem ("The Star-Spangled Banner"), but there is no doubt that it is soulful and very well sung. 

It's pretty 'dramatic'. I'll put it up so you can decide. Like China at the UN, I'm abstaining!

Donny Sykes is a singer/actor from L.A. who has appeared in Scrubs as well as many musical theatre and TV shows. He is currently a member of  the Dazz Band.

HayZee [2022] - Hold You Down [Zero One]

I don't know if this artist is linked to another artist with the same name on Spotify/DSPs. but the rest of the material is nothing like this it's ragga style EDM! If it is the same artist then it is Roger Slager, a Dutch-Surinamese hip-hop DJ/producer from Amsterdam.

The latest single is "Hold You Down" released 17 Feb 2022. Well actually it's no longer the latest as it has been superseded with another the following day (18 Feb) "Totondike" which is pretty awful, don't even waste your time checking it out! I somehow can't imagine for a second that it's the same artist, therefore I'm not providing the usual links.

Digging a beat deeper using the writers name, Andy Putra Permana, I discovered he is from Jakarta Indonesia, and is a beatmaker/producer at Zero One, so now I'm convinced it's not the same artist!

London based, Guyana born, Erica Sember (Dissember), debuted with a single "Trust Me" last year and released her latest single "Mean It" on Sunday (27 Feb 2022) which is R&B flavoured neo soul.

Sevana [2022] - Brand New A COLORS SHOW [COLORSxSTUDIOS]

Previously know as Sevana Siren, Jamaican singer, actress and model Anna-Sharé Blake released her first  new music for nearly two years on 21 Feb 2022. 

It's a Colors session of a song called "Brand New" which she co-wrote with Kelsey González. Having quickly skimmed through some of her earlier material, this is easily the best song she's done, much of her other material is a mixture of pop, EDM and reggae.

Alaska Wolff [2022] - Insane [Self Released] (Full EP)

Alaska Wolff is a singer, saxophonists, actress, model and dancer from Montgomery, AL. She released a debut single on 31 Jan 2022 titled "Insane" and followed it on 19 Feb 2022 with a five track EP of the same name which includes a remix of the single.

It's a future/neo soul affair and, sadly, my choice cut is "Love Fuck (Blackened Heart) (Jak Dinero Remix)" which is explicit (N and F words used) so will probably not get airplay.

JoistaRR [2022] - Love Story [MyBlock]

JoistaRR (Joi Starr aka Joi Nicole Campbell) from L.A. has performed backing vocals for Dawkins & Dawkins, BeBe Winans, Mary Mary, Angie Stone, Heather Headley and Angie Stone as well as writing songs recorded by many of them and others.

She has singles and an EP going back to 2013 on DSPs but released a demo album in 2002 and a few singles around the same time.

Her latest single "Love Story" was released on 25 Feb 2022 and a classy tune it is too, co-written with Charlie & Kenny Bereal.

She did a duet with PJ Morton "Nothing Even Matters" back in 2017 which I'll also include
