Kaidi Tatham [2022] - Don't Rush The Process [First Word Records] (Full Album)

The title track and lead single from Midlands based, Belfast born, multi-instrumentalist Kaidi Tatham was released on 29 Jun 2020 ahead of the release of the full album  "Don't Rush The Process" which is out today.

The album follows "An Insight To All Minds" (2021), "It's A World Before You" (2018) and "In Search Of Hope" (2020) as well as with several EPs since 2017 including "Galaxy" released less than two weeks ago on 17 Jun.

The forthcoming album is described as follows: "opens with an intro of sweet strings on 'Mystery Solved', ahead of lead title track, which is on a mid-tempo boom bap vibe, before switching to a more uptempo boogie vein, with the assistance of The Easy Access Orchestra, who also appear on 'We Chillin' Out', which is on a similar boogie tip. 'All I Need' is some gospel flavoured hip hop, whilst 'Knocknee Donkey' steps things up in a jazz-funk fashion. The second half of the album takes on a very Brazilian flavoured stance, with a set of delicious latin flavoured grooves on 'Any Flavour', 'Runnin' Tru', 'What A Dream' and 'Sooretama', the latter featuring the additional prowess of pianist Robert Mitchell. There's a touch more of the hip hop beats thrown in via 'Funky Fool' and the album closes out in inimitable Kaidi style with a short message: 'Mind Yourself'".

Beyonce [2022] - Plastic Off The Sofa [Parkwood Entertainment]

Yes Beyonce!... but 99.9% of the album, "RENAISSANCE", is hip-hop (well 93.75% to be accurate i.e. 15 of 16 tracks) but "Plastic Off The Sofa" is nice. I won't insult you, or waste your time, by posting the full album (which has 12 explicit hip-hop tracks on it) but give this track a listen, you may be pleasantly surprised?

To be fair "Virgo's Groove" is not too bad, compared to the rest of the album at least!

Lynita Renea [2022] - LOML [Self Released]

Released last Sunday (24 Jun 2022) is one of the better neo soul releases of which there have been very few this week. Lynita Renea is a new artist from St. Louis, MO, who last featured here on a single with Kelvin Evans "Spend The Night" released on New Years Day which was the first SoulStrutter Selection of the Week for 2022, which is well worth checking out if you are not familiar with it!

She debuted in Apr 2021 with a five track EP "Vibes" and now has a full album and her latest single "LOML" (love of my life) is her fifth (not including the one above on which she featured along with around another seven). All songs appear to be self or co-written.

Rina Chanel [2022] - E.S.P. [PhillieBOP Productions]

Rina Chanel (from Virginia Beach, VA) was a backing singer with Tracy Hamlin before starting her solo career in 2020. She first appeared on the blog in March 2021 with her third single "More Than Enough" which followed up her UK Soul Chart top 10 hit "Made" (Sep 2020), which in turn followed her debut single "Worthy" released in Jan 2020.

She also featured on Raymond Barton's 2017 EP "If Only For Love" on "Don't Give Up On Love".

Her latest single "E.S.P."  is released today (29 Jul 2022)

Divine818 [2022] - Feelin Better Now [Caligirl Makin Music]

Divine818 is Chalinda Bradley from Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley, CA, hence the 818 in the name which is the area code and is also an angel number meaning "achieving a state of equilibrium and peace in your life" if you to subscribe to such things! She now lives in Atlanta, GA (yet another!).

She began as a DJ, then songwriter, and taught herself how to make music on her Mac using Garage Band and LogicPro software with the idea to sell demos. 

She's released five singles, the last two appearing on her debut EP "Faded Buzzed Love" released in Feb 2022.

Her first single since then is "Feelin Better Now" (21 Jul 2022)

Shamika Brown [2022] - Heart of the City [Self Released]

Shamika Brown is from Atlanta, GA, and released a debut album "I Am Who I Am" in 2018. Following a few singles she released her second album "Center Of Attention" on 28 Jan 2022. Her first release since the is this single "Heart of the City" which could be another belated release as it is being listed as 21 Jul 2022 but has only appeared on Spotify today.

Whilst not credited, it's almost certainly 'inspired' by a line from Bobby 'Blue' Bland's "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City" from 1974.
