J Treece & The Terri Green Project [2023] - Close The Door [Euro Musik]

The Terri Green Project should need little introduction as they have featured here many times but to recap they are Hamburg based songwriting and producer duo Terri Bjerre (aka Terri Green) and Torsten Abrolat (aka Todd Reed) who have scored four US Indie Soul and UK Soul chart #1 singles since 2019.

Joel Treece was born in Asheville, SC, but drew up in Baltimore, MD. He is a former US soldier who was stationed in Germany and made his way in the local music scene as a DJ and producer. Upon leaving the Army he became a member of Mirror Mirror who released a single in the early noughties.

He later moved into music production and formed his own company Treetop Entertainment and released around nine singles and a solo album "With Love" in Sep 2019 and is working on the follow up.

Joel met Terri Green via a mutual friend and came up with the idea of reinterpreting rather than covering Teddy P's classic Gamble & Huff song "Close The Door".

Castella [2023] - Intoxicated Love [Self Released]

Castella follows up her last single "I Saw You" feat. saxophonist Marqueal Jordan in Jan '23 with an upbeat song "Intoxicated Love", co-written with her producer Jeff Canady, which was posted from promo last week and now released on Friday (9 Jun '23).

Castella is Cathy Rebecca Crowell-Thompson from Long Beach, CA, who left her full time job as an HR executive in 2020 after releasing her debut single "Mojito" in July 2019 to focus on her music career and now has 8 singles (plus 2 Christmas singles) and 2 EPs under her belt.

LeVelle [2023] - Promise To Love [SoNo Recording Group] (Full Album)

Having drip fed three singles from LeVelle's sophomore album "Promise To Love"  ("Only If" (Mar '23) , "What Love Sounds Like" and "Work It Out" last month) the full album was released on Friday (9 Jun '23). 

Included on the album is the remix of our favourite song from him, "Fell In Love" with Anthony Hamilton, taken from his debut album "My Journey Continues" which was pre-released as a single in Mar '22. If you haven't already, we recommend checking out the original mix of the song (music video below) which was one of our end of year selections in 2021 and still sounds great.

The new album is a solid set, without having any major standouts amongst the new songs, but our pick is "Always" with After 7.

Entice [2023] - Flavas [Self Released] (Full Album)

An album we have resisted posting for the last couple of weeks is "Flavas" by Entice. Mainly because a lot of the songs sound dated (90s/00s) to our ears, so we weren't sure if this was a  reissue or not.

It transpires that Entice are a working band from, in and around, Nashville, TN, based on the sextet of Eugene, Renee, Derel and Virgus Ewing, Ron Ballentine and Rick Ward who been in the music business for the past 15 years. For this album they have drafted in featured vocalist who are listed on the album cover.

The album "Flavas" would appear to be their debut release which consists of 18 original songs that are mainly written/co-written by Eugene Ewing. Some tracks been picked up for radio airplay, "Come Over" and "Just What I Like", in addition some of our recommended tracks would be "I Like The Way", "What's Going On", "Live My Life" and the closing track "Let's Ride" is a tight, George Benson'ish guitar led, jazz/funk instrumental.

The group plays corporate events, college campuses, weddings and other gigs and have an extensive list of cover songs that they perform at their shows, so are a hard working unit. 

During their long career they have opened for The Gap Band, The Ohio Players, Dr. Hook, Midnight Star, Solo, Evelyn Champagne King, Bobby Blue Bland, Rick James, Cameo and many others.
