Joe Leavy feat. Althea Rene [2023] - Do It Again [Self Released]

One we posted from promo on 9 May and omitted to repost on release is the new single from Joe Leavy "Do It Again" which got an official release on 11 May.

The song was written by Joe and bassist Timothy Bailey Jr and features smooth jazz flautist Althea Rene and celebrates the most powerful element in any lasting relationship, i.e. friendship.

It is the fourth single so far from his forthcoming, sophomore, album "Soul On Fire" due on 15 Jun '23. The other three singles include his superb 2020 #1 UK Soul Chart topper (and SoulTracks Song Of The Year) "Inside You",  "Love Me to My Soul"  (another UK Soul Chart #1) and "Let It Go"  featuring  Steve Hanuman on trumpet which hit the top 10 on the SmoothJazz.com chart.

Joe has also also announced that he will be visiting the UK next month with a full band for the "Let it Go Tour"  9 to 12 Jun 2023.

A San Diego native, Joe worked overseas for over 10 years playing R&B, pop and jazz nightly in clubs throughout east Asia and Japan. He returned to the US for family reasons where he performed in Las Vegas. After a while he got burnt out and moved to California and left music to set up a construction company for a lifestyle more conducive to focusing on his family.

However, he couldn't completely put music aside and wrote "It's About Time" in 2012 which led to an album "A Guy Named Joe Leavy" in early 2014 which gave him the opportunity to create and sing his own music. Included below is a promotion video for his debut album.

Lynn Davis [2023] - Beautiful You [Bella Records]

At the risk of 'overkill', the new single from Lynn Davis "Beautiful You" is out today. We have posted it twice already, from promo and then when we received the video for the song, but always re-post on day of release to let you know that it is available to purchase.

It is only Lynn's second solo single, her first being  "Can I Come Over" in Oct '22. Both songs will feature on her forthcoming debut solo album  "Lynn Davis From The Vaults" and, like we said before, if these are a good example of what will be on the album then we are very much looking forward to it.

As you will also know by now, Ms Davis is no newcomer as she is hailed as one of the most recorded backing voices in the business with countless appearances on albums of many of the world greatest artists which include Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Teddy Pendergrass, Anita Baker, Stephanie Mills, George Duke, Jeffrey Osborne, Syreeta, Johnny Mathis, Peabo Bryson, Patrice Rushen, Billy Preston, Brothers Johnson to name but a few.

DYVN & Kabwasa [2023] - Have A Nice Day [urbanundergrounds]

Sweden based, German producer / beat maker David Nilles, under his alias DYVN (pronounced 'dive in'), appears on these pages for the first time, which is surprising given that he has over 40 singles listed on Spotify since 2018.

DYVN co-founded an environmentally conscious label 'Mysa Records' which donates 50% of its revenue to environmental organisations for a brighter future.

His latest single "Have A Nice Day" features Etienne Kabwasa Green who has featured her before with an album "Kabwasa Presents... Supa Heavy Funk" in Feb this year.

Not sure quite how to describe the song, it's contemporary dance music I guess? Whether or not it is soulful is up to the listener.

Slowe [2023] - Stay Right Here [Tru Thoughts]

Staying with Brighton's ground breaking Tru Thoughts label. The fourth single from Bristol producer Slowe's (Sophia Hawes) forthcoming debut album "Where The Mind Wanders" (due on 28 Jul '23) is "Stay Right Here" slipped out on Tuesday (16 May).

The other three singles are her debut single "WYLK" (Nov '22), "Supoerego" (Jan '23) and "Fix Me Up" (Mar '23).
