blue. [2023] - Any Part [Self Released]

A single from exactly a month ago (7 Feb) titled "Any Part" from an artist named blue. who I can find nothing about. It only appears to be her second release and follows, what I presume to be, the debut single "Back to the Streets" featuring Tyler Ray from Dec '22.

A couple of hints from writer's credits suggest that she may be from Bermuda as Cahlii Smith is a member of Dem Biez, a Bermudan label/production company, and a search for Chakara Burrows finds an article in a Bermudan paper The Royal Gazette, so now you know!

Oracle [2023] - Possession [Lakou Records]

Here's yet another song, titled "Possession" (released 20 Feb '23), that uses the sample/backing track that keeps recurring, I wouldn't mind  a few quid for each song it's been used on! I can only imagine it's one of those freebie sound samples available? 

The only info available on the artist, Oracle, is that their social media states 'Sounds from Ginen, NYC'. The song's writing credits are to Toya J Abdaraya, as are tracks on a self-titled album released on 21 Jan '23, so draw your own conclusions.

Sandy Mill [2023] - High on Love [Chillifunk]

Chillifunk Records was set up in 1996 by Dr. Bob Jones (Robert Easter) and Lofty (Steven Harper) and is celebrating its 25th year this year. Their latest offering consists of three mixes of "High on Love" from Auckland,NZ, singer/songwriter Sandy Mill described as an alternate funky bossa groover.

There's the Main Mix, and two L+T (Lofty & Tom Davidson (Casa Devi)) remixes, The Soul Common Mix and Broken Beat Mix.

Ms Mill's music pedigree goes back to 1991 when she released a debut single "Blue Beat" and since then she has worked and collaborated with a whole host of musicians including, most famously, Boy George.

Terri Walker [2023] - Finally over you [Wings of a hummingbird records]

Terri Walker (Chanelle Gstettenbauer) was born in Wimbledon, London, but moved to Germany as a child returning to London later . She started to study opera aged 15 and began singing professionally at 18, initially singing with garage artists. 

She recorded her debut album "Untitled" for Def Soul (part of Def Jam) in 2003 and has since released a further three albums, "L.O.V.E" (2005), "I Am" (2006) and "Entitled" (2015). 

On Friday she released her first single of 2023, "Finally over you", which follows a broken beats track, "Sugarcane & Lime", last August which featured Melonyx as well as Zed Bias and Rampage Sound. The song has a slow, false, start so don't be fooled as it kicks on around the 47 second mark. I'm not quite sure how to categorise this one house/broken beat/dance?... so have just tagged it as new soul.
