Izarya Nathan Feat. JahZul [2022] - G2K(Got2Know) [IZNMedia/BlackLamb Exclusive]

Izarya Nathan is from Miami and is a new name to me although it appears he has released three albums since 2015, his last "Le Choppe Shoppe" released in Dec 2021. 

Yesterday (18 Feb 2022) he released two versions of G2K one with a suffix (Got2Know) sounding like it's got some added beats.

A quick skim through the albums reveals that they are mainly beats so I assume that JahZul is the vocalist on this track.

Writers credits on all of his songs I checked were to Albert Edward Rose.

It's one of the best releases this weekend to my ears! Is it just me or does he look a tad like Samuel L. Jackson?

GLOBAL:SOUL TAKEOVER 18th Feb 2022 The Night Owl, Finsbuy Park, London VIDEO

GLOBAL:SOUL hosted a TAKEOVER event at The Night Owl, London last night (18th Feb 2022).  Artists appearing were Raelle, Sandra-Mae Lux and Krishawna.

I've not heard what the turnout was like as unfortunately storm Eunice hit the UK yesterday with the highest wind speeds on record. I was very kindly invited as a guest but was unable to travel as trains were cancelled. So it was very brave for 'the show to go on' regardless, well done guys! 

Thankfully Global Soul has posted a video of the live performances for those who weren't able to make the event. 

The live performances kicked off with Raelle at around 15 mins into the video. I listened to her set on the live feed last night and was very impressed.

Her 15 minute set included three tracks from her debut EP "Wake Up Sunshine" "Purple Skies", "Sundown", "Wake Up Sunshine" and her new single due at the beginning of April (I didn't catch the title but sounded like "My Place" or "My Faith"). Her full discography to date has been posted on the blog. Definitely an emerging talent.

Next up at 45 mins is Sandra-Mae Lux. Her 30 minute set included tracks from her "Happy Ever After" album:  "Moment In The Sun", "Little Town" (on which she plays the sax), "I'm Still Here", "Do U Wanna", her current single "You And Me Tomorrow" and "Happily Ever Now".

Krishawna appears at 1 hr 26mins singing songs from her forthcoming album "Second Offering" (which unsurprisingly, from the title, is her sophomore album) due 1 Mar 2022.

I don't know what the first track is called but she followed it with "Too Much", "Jealous" and "I'm Done" from her forthcoming album and "Gonna Make It" followed by "Blind" from her debut album "Full Disclosure". The new songs sound great live so I can't wait for the new album!

Trombone Shorty [2022] - Come Back [Blue Note Records]

Trombone Shorty is Troy Andrews from New Orleans who has a rich musical heritage as his brother James Andrews is a trumpeter/bandleader and their grandfather was Jessie Hill who had a hit in 1960 with "Ooh Poo Pah Doo". 

He released a single yesterday "Come Back" which has a horn riff which reminds me of EWF ("Getaway?)". The 'rare' single release from him is presumably to promote his forthcoming album "Lifted" due on 29 Apr 2022.

India Shan [2022] - Straight Talk [Loup Ent]

Released yesterday (18 Feb 2022) is a new single called "Straight Talk" by India Shan from West London not to be confused with India Shawn from L.A./Atlanta.

India Shan (aka Savannah Speechly) emerged in Apr 2021 with a debut single "Triumph" and, discounting remixes, this will be her fourth single as well as a four track EP "Inertia" which included two singles.

Anthony Lyric [2022] - With You in Mind [DevMarAnt Ent] (Full Album) (Re-Release)

Anthony Lyric (aka Dominic Anthony) is a relatively new artist, originally from Philadelphia, who has released half a dozen singles since 2018. "With You in Mind" is his debut album originally released on 13 Sep 2021 which seemed to have been withdrawn a few weeks afterwards but has now been re-released on 9 Feb 2022.

Surprisingly, for a debut, only one of the singles, "In My Bed" released prior to it's initial release last Sep, appears on the album.

Of the twelve tracks there are 4 interludes/outros. My choice cut would be "That's Life" followed by "What I Did" and "Love Me Do". "When You Get Home" is 'not bad' but the remainder lean too much towards R&B for my own taste, but you may like them.

Fana Hues from Pasadena, CA, has her sophomore album "Flora + Fana" due on 25 Mar 2022 and has just pre-released the third track, "Wild Horses", from it as a single following "Breakfast" (10 Dec 2021)  and "Pieces" (9 Nov 2021).
