Gabrielle Current [2021] - Virgo [Best Friends] (Full EP)

Gabrielle Current from L.A. released a five track EP "Virgo" on 27 May 2021. It's around her tenth release since 2017.

The track that's currently picking up airplay is "Serenity", which is probably the best track, but there are a few other nice tracks on the E.P., I particularly like "If I Fall". I've included a video for "Down The Line", the only track on the E.P. that has one available. Both of these tracks have been previously released as singles earlier this year and "Plenty" was a single last year, so "Serenity" and "Make It Right" are the only new tracks.

The Haggis Horns & Abstract Orchestra [2021] - Give It Up (Don't Take Part In The Madness) - Abstract Orchestra Remix [Haggis Records]

Despite the name, I think the The Haggis Horns are from Leeds, but I suspect Mr. Darge might have had something to do with the name as they went on to became a full band in 2004 after they were the horn section for The New Mastersounds (Keb Darge Presents The New Mastersounds) in 2001. 

They have released five albums to date and released a new single on  4 Jun 2021.  It is a reworking of a track from their last album in 2020, "Stand Up For Love" (included below).

A new album from Mark A. Smith released 3 Jun 2021. It's packed with mellow soul ballads and love songs. I've not listened to the album in full as yet, just skipped through the tracks, but "Mesmerized", "Spend Some Time" and "Inseparable" stand out to me. 

A few of the tracks have already been released as singles i.e. "Let's Stay Together" (not the Al Green song), "Nothing I Won't Do (The Wedding Song)" and "The Thought Of You". 

This looks like his sixth album since 2005.

Derrick Sena & James Sena Feat. Senco [2021] - I Can’t Help It [Self Released]

This one's been 'lurking' for a couple of weeks (released 21 May 2021) and I've only just come across it today and I'm so glad I did as this is quality soul music. One of the most instant soul tunes I've heard for a while.

A new artist to me and it looks like they have just emerged in Apr 2021 but have already released four singles this year and this single has already been superseded with another called "Triple Shot", which is a jazz flavoured instrumental as are the other two releases, so I assume Senco must be the vocalist on this track, who sounds like a female but could be male?

As usual I can't find any info on the new artist.

The Global Soul Chart - 5th Jun 2021 - The Breakers & New Music Hour

Franklin had a week off this week, so no 'Essential 5' but as well as 'The Breakers' I'll include a list of tracks played on the New Music Hour on Friday (4 Jun) which was extended to two hours this week.

Global Soul Chart Show, which features breakers interspersed between chart entries, is aired between 5pm-7pm every Saturday on Global Soul Radio. A podcast of the show is posted each week on Mixcloud.
