Kenny Thomas [2022] - Crazy World (Opolopo Remix) [M2MR #M2MR062]

A few weeks ago when Kenny Thomas released his latest single "Contagious" we mentioned (and posted) his 2006 underground hit "Crazy World". Little did we know at the time that a new Opolopo Remix was in the pipeline. 

According to Traxsource and Amazon it is due out on 25 Nov '22 but is already posted to Spotify with a  release date of 28 Oct!

It's not available on the main DSPs yet but you can grab it from Traxsource and pay a premium i.e. $2.49 per track!

Kenny has another new single due out on Thursday (17 Nov) "Got It On Time" and is working on a new album due in Spring 2023.

André Ward [2022] - Africa Rising [Orpheus Enterprises] (Full Album)

As alluded to when we posted his latest single, "Casualty of Love (Remix)" two weeks ago, the new album "Africa Rising" from André Ward  was released on Friday (11 Nov '22).

It is the veteran Chicago saxophonist's first solo album since "Jazzilicious, Vol. 2" in Feb 2016.

Our Soulsorts man has highlighted four tracks: a cover of The Emotions', Skip Scarborough penned, "Don't Ask My Neighbors" and "Secret Place" both featuring "Chantel Hampton" along with "Classy Lady" and his choice cut "Still" feat. Janice Dempsey. 

These are just about the only vocal tracks on the album. There's an instrumental version of Stevie's "Do I Do" if that floats your boat as well as "Uptown" which is a nice uptempo instrumental jazz stepper. It also includes the current single which is a remix of "Casualty Of Love".

Nathan De'Shon Myers [2022] - Found My Joy [RSVP Records] (Full Album)

Nathan De'Shon Myers released his sophomore album "Found My Joy" on Friday (11 Nov '22) which follows his debut urban gospel album "Making A Way" in 2014.

He's collaborated with notable artists in the gospel and jazz worlds and featured on Kirk Franklin’s Grammy Award-Winning album, "Losing My Religion" in 2015 and lent his voice and musicianship to the soundtracks of the movies "Hidden Figures" (2016) and "The Star" (2017).

Myers holds multiple music degrees and is currently Assistant Professor of Voice at Arizona State University.

The opening track from the album "I Wish You Would" was released as a single in Feb 2019. The choice cut, from the new songs, is "Keep On Runnin'".

A video for the track "Wait On Me, Pt. 2" featuring GeorgiaReign from Raheem DeVaughn's "From Lust Till Dawn" album  (released in May '22) was premiere on YouTube on Friday (11 Nov '22).

It may seem a bit late as the song was released as a single before the album on 22 Apr '22 but It's a remix.

Bemaji Tillman [2022] - The Algorhythms [ChoozMusic] (Full Album)

Going back two months for this album "The Algorhythms" which was missed at the time by Chicgo producer Bemaji Tillman released on 15 Sep '22

Each track is a cover of a 70s or 80s classic featuring different guest vocalists starting with one of, possibly, my favourite songs "Show And Tell" written by Jerry Fuller, best known by Al Wilson, but originally recorded by Johnny Mathis and covered many times. SecondHandSongs lists only twelve but there are more than that as Maceo's and Willie Clayton's versions aren't listed for starters and I'm fairly sure Cleo Laine did a pretty decent version on one of her albums.

The other songs are "Baby I'm Scared Of You" (Womack & Womack), "What a Fool Believes" (Doobie Brothers / Aretha Franklin), "Lady in Your Life" (Michael Jackson "Lady In My Life"), "Precious Precious" (Jackie Moore), "Make It Last Forever" (Keith Sweat) and "I Wanna Thank You" (One Way's Alicia Myers).

Daracus Watson [2022] - Lovers Land [New Intentions Records] (Full Album)

I can't find out much about him, but Daracus Watson released, what appears to be, his debut album "Lovers Land" on 3 Nov '22. It would also appear that his real name is Edward Daracus Watts who I think is from Chicago.

The only other listed material for him are two singles from 2020 "God's Got It", and 2021 "Me Oh Lord" neither of which are included on the album but the titles give you a clue that it's  gospel based.
