Just a quickie to let you know that this week's Dirty Dozens have now
been posted. They were 'bookmarked' on Sunday so appear in Sunday's
listings but I have only just completed and posted them.

It is being reported today that legendary (in soul and disco circles)
producer Patrick Adams. has died.
In 1970 Adams joined Perception/Today as A&R vice president where he
discovered Black Ivory who's lead singer was Leroy Burgess. He wrote for
and produced other Today artists such as Debbie Taylor, Odds & Ends
and Julius Brockington as well as J.J. Barnes on Perception.
He left in 1974 to create his own production company PAPMUS and produced
many artists loved on the UK rare soul scene such as Executive Suite,
Mayberry Movement, Four Below Zero, Sister Sledge, Al Hudson & The
Soul Partners, Ace Spectrum, Pete Warner, Fantastic Puzzles, Continental
Four and many others.
He created a number of studio groups producing disco/dance records from
the mid 70s such as Cloud One "Atmosphere Strut",
Caress "I Can't Let You Walk Away",
Dazzle "You Dazzle Me!!" etc, Inner Life (Jocelyn Brown) "I'm Caught Up", Musique "In The
Bush", Phreek "Weekend", Personal Touch /
Donna McGhee / Rainbow Brown "It Ain't No
Big Thing", Daybreak / Main Ingredient "Everything
Man". These are just the tip of the iceberg as he was responsible for
producing 22 albums between 1978-82.
The video below is a long watch but very worthwhile if you can afford the
time. There is also a detailed article of his career available on Red Bull Music Academy.
The last post he made on his
facebook
page on 13 Jun 2021 was this. I couldn't possibly comment!
By way of a tribute I've put together a playlist of some of his better
known 70s productions.
THEHONESTGUY is Mubarak Adeyemi from Toronto who released
a debut six track EP 'Love Songs For No One' in Feb 2021. He is currently
working on his sophomore EP "How To Make Love" and three tracks,
presumably, from it have been released today and titled "A Rose By Any
Other Name", a mini EP I guess?
Two tracks "Lost to the Summer" (Jun 2021) and "Choosy Lover" (Oct 2021) were released as singles last year, leaving one new song
"Fight The Feeling".

Samples for the long awaited new album from JKABEL were posted on Monday as a teaser for it's release today 22 Jun 2022.
Jared Kabel Holloway aka JKABEL (pronounced Jay-Kay-Bul) is
originally from Florida. He learnt to play the piano at a young age
and then went to college to study acting which led to him touring with
a stage play in 2005 for three years. When that ended in 2008 he
started writing songs and relocated to Minnesota in 2013. He released
his debut R&B single "Do What You Wanna Do" in 2016 and now has five albums under his belt. with his fifth, "Rhythm & Bible", released today.
All his music (albums and singles) is available directly from
his website:
Several tracks on the new album have already appeared as singles: "Love You Still" (Mar 2022), "Holy" (Dec 2021) and "Keeper Of My Soul" (Nov 2021).
JKABEL has a distinctive sound which is soulful, contemporary gospel. I
believe that the album was originally due on 6 April but the wait has been
well worth it with sixteen tracks with no fillers. Another album you can
just hit play on and leave it without feeling the urge to skip a track. I
am really struggling to choose a favourite, so won't as the whole album is
very good, but if you were twisting my arm then, on only a first listen,
"Believe" and "New Friends" seem to stand out, and I have it on good authority that "New Friends"
'may' be the next single!
Samaza Murava is from Toronto and debuted featuring on a
single with Cheyenne Sapphire in Apr 2020. Since then she's released four
more singles with three of them (the first three tracks) appearing
on her debut six track EP "Asymmetric" released on 20 Jun 2022.
