Released today (12 Jun 2022) is a sophomore album "Chronicles Of Life" by Tyra Levone (Jackson) from Washington D.C. She released
her debut album "Testimony Of A Soul Set Free" in 2017.
Three tracks have already seen the light of day as singles "Keep Steppin'" (Jun 2019), also released on 7" vinyl by Soultownie with "Can't Love You No More" on the flip) "Wishing On A Star" (Feb 2021) (Rose Royce cover written by Billie Rae Calvin which
features the sax of Marion Meadows) and "Hurricane" (Jun 2021).
I haven't had a chance to fully digest the album yet as I've been busy
with charts and weekly summaries but "Better Place" is superb as is "Can't Love You More" which is a remastered version from the 2017 original (from her debut
album) and still sounds stunning and now even crisper. Not forgetting the
great rendition of the Rose Royce classic and "Keep Steppin'" both previously released.
UPDATE (13 Jun): Unfortunately I only noticed this album after the weekly
Dirty Dozen had been compiled and posted but a track or two would surely
have been included. Having just checked Amazon Hot 100, five tracks from
the album are holding positions 1,2,3,4 & 14, (only one day after
release) so this looks like it could be another UK soul chart #1
candidate!
