Rae Khalil [2024] - IS IT WORTH IT [APE SHIT]

Now here's a name we weren't familiar with until she cropped up on Pip Millet's "Eating Out" single recently and included on her four track EP "Tell Jimmy" released on 15 Feb. However, we have subsequently realised that she also featured on CARRTOONS "Grace" single last year and also featured on "Lights" on  CARRTOONS "Homegrown" album in 2022. 

It's Rae Khalil (aka Ill Tha Don) who has her own single out called "IS IT WORTH IT". She's from Torrance, CA, and was a contestant on the Netflix music competition "Rhythm + Flow" in 2019.

We note that the music video for the new single was directed by Anderson .Paak (who also plays drums on the recording) as she has just signed to his APE SHIT label, a part of Def Jam, and this is her debut for the label.

Shaé Universe [2024] - Love's Letter [Self Released] (Full Album)

Londoner Shaé Universe released her sophomore album "Love's Letter" on Valentines Day. It follows her debut "Unorthodox" seven tracks (EP/Album?) from  Apr '22.

The new album contains  three of her last four singles "What's Luv", "LOML" and "Passenger Princess" and one that catches our attention is "More Than Enough" feat. Lalah Hathaway.

With a pastor father and choir leading mother, Shaé inevitably sang in church, however her background is in grime and drill music and she labelled her early material R&Drill.

Shaé was born in Nigeria moving to the U.K. aged four and started making music in 2015.

Jack Freeman [2024] - Nina [Venice Music] (Full Album)

Houston's Jack Freeman has a new album "Nina" out today. It features two recent singles "U N D R E S S" and "Shine".

Freeman emerged in 2014 and was tipped as one to watch by Houston radio listeners. In 2016 he was selected by John Legend to join The AXE Collective. During his career he has opened for artists such as Legend, Anthony Hamilton, Maze, Brian McKnight, PJ Morton and Bilal.

"Nina" is now his fifth full length album with his last in 2018, "Define Love", reissued with remixes.

The Staples [2024] - Take This Love Of Mine / Precious Precious [Soul4Real #S4R034]

The Staple Singers where mainstays at Stax in the 60s and early 70s. When Stax was forced to close it's doors in 1975 they signed to Curtis Mayfield's Curtom label and achieved their second Billboard Hot 100 (and third R&B) #1 hit with "Let's Do It Again", the title track from the soundtrack album.

The success of both single and album attracted Warner Bros where they would release their next three albums as The Staples: "Pass It On" (1976), "Family Tree" (1977), "Unlock Your Mind" (1978). 

Soul4Real has selected two tracks, "Take This Love Of Mine" and "Precious, Precious", from the first, Mayfield written and produced, Warner's album "Pass It On", for 7" vinyl release as neither has been previously released as a single.
