Velvet Bloom [2023] - Miles Away [C.W. Records]

Velvet Bloom is a collective from Melbourne fronted by vocalist/founder Maddy Herbert who formed them in 2018 with members of her live group The Vito Collective.

They last featured here with a five track EP "Glimmer" in Apr 2022 which was solid throughout with jazz tinged neo soul vibes.

Since then they've released a couple of singles from the EP and also a remixed edition of the EP. Their last single was "Solid Ground" in April which was a collaborative one with Max Glyde, Morning Maxwell and r.em.edy.

Their latest single "Miles Away" was released on Wed (31 May '23).

Duchess S. [2023] - You Don't Hear Me [D Stone Records]

The latest and fifth single since 2022 by Duchess S. is "You Don't Hear Me". We can find nothing about the artist, however, with a bit of digging we wonder whether it may perhaps be Robin S. of "Show Me Love" fame. 

Two bits of information lead us to this speculation, Robin Stone is on writing credits and is an alias used by Robin Jackson-Harrell aka Robin S. and some of her music was published by Duchess Music .. pure speculation in the absence of any information.

Nia Wyn [2023] - LONG HAUL [Self Released] (Full EP)

Nia Wyn is an emerging artist from North Wales who has already supported Paul Weller and Paloma Faith. She states her influences include Northern Soul, the jazz/blues of Billie Holiday and Lauryn Hill. 

Her debut solo release was in March 2019 with a six track, self-titled EP which she followed with another two EPs, "Love I Can't Ruin" (Feb '20) and "Take A Seat" (Mar '21).

A couple of her singles have featured here "What Did You Expect" (Jun 2021) and "Who Asked You" (Aug 2021) (which was the official FIFA 21 soundtrack) and her last EP "Magical Thinking" (Jun '22).

Her latest EP is "LONG HAUL" which features her last three singles "The Grind" (May '23) "I Know I Should Call More" (Mar '23) and "Tough Love" (Feb '23)  leaving just two new songs.
