The 'Prince of Sophisticated Soul', Will Downing, is due to release his 26th album "Pieces" in the new year (Feb we believe, in time for Valentine's Day). It follows his landmark 25th album "Sophisticated Soul" from a year ago (1 Nov 2021). 

In the meantime, today he's pre-released the lead single from it in the form of "Kinda Guy" to give you a flavour of what's to come and it's smooth sophisticated soul with a steppers groove as we've come to expect from The Man.

Mumu Fresh [2022] - I Want You [The Vintage Babies]

Mumu Fresh (Maimouna Youssef) last featured in Feb '22 with her single "Soft Again". She has released five singles since then which, for whatever reason, haven't been featured. but we put that right with her latest "I Want You" released on 11 Nov. 

She debuted in 2011 with an album "The Blooming" and has released a further two since, the last being "Queen Of Culture" in Aug 2021 which featured the 'omnipresent' Alex Isley on one of the tracks and Moonchild's Amber Navran on another.

Included below is a killer cut "Miracle" from her second album "Vintage Babies" and also a live appearance on TinyDesk in 2018 where she performs it along with two other songs.

OSHUN [2022] - vol. ii [Self Released] (Full Album)

The sophomore album by OSHUN is "vol. ii" which follows "bittersweet vol. 1" from 2018. Three singles have already been pre-released, "100k" (15 Jul), "kali" (19 Aug) and "juju" (14 Oct).

OSHUN are a neo-soul/hip hop act formed in 2013 by Niambi Sala Mawusi Scott-Murray and Thandiwe at NYU. Their name comes from a Yoruba-based, West African, religion which in turn is named after the Osun river in Nigeria.

All tracks are explicit except the "Iya's Intro", only because it's instrumental! The only tracks of interest to this listener is "Nourish" and "You Can't (Love Me)" but perhaps the remainder of the set will appeal to hip-hoppers amongst us?
