Myles Sanko [2023] - Live at Philharmonie Luxembourg [Légère Recordings] (Full Album)

Myles Sanko is a class act who sounds like a blend of Bill Withers and Gregory Porter  to these ears. He has a new live album out today "Live at Philharmonie Luxembourg" which features ten songs with orchestral arrangements by Gast Waltzing and Peter Hinderthür and appears to based around his 2016 album "Just Being Me".

It includes favourites such as "Come On Home", "High On You" and classics like "Just Being Me" and "Forever Dreaming" and  will be available on vinyl LP, CD and digital formats.

Having released four studio albums to date, it is his first live album recorded (and filmed) live to a sold-out auditorium at Philharmonie in Luxembourg. He is accompanied by his trusted soul/jazz sextet, pianist Tom O’Grady (piano), Jon Mapp (bass), Rick Hudson (drums), Phil Stevenson, (guitar), Gareth Lumbers (sax/flute) and Sam Ewens (trumpet/flugelhorn) along with the 70-piece Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra led by Grammy Award winning conductor Gast Waltzing.

Pink Sweat$ [2023] - Ain't No Sunshine [Atlantic]

Probably not one for the purists, but the new single from Pink Sweat$ (David Bowden from Philadelphia) is a cover of Bill Wither's classic "Ain't No Sunshine" taken from an upcoming biographical film "Spinning Gold" which is due to hit theatres on 31 Mar '23. It is the story of former Buddah record executive Neil Bogart who formed Casablanca Records in 1973.

The film is written and directed by Bogart's son Timothy Scott Bogart as Bogart died in 1982 aged only 39. As we have reported previously, the movie stars Ledisi playing Gladys Knight.

Why a Withers song? Well "Ain't No Sunshine" was originally released as the B side to "Harlem" on Sussex Records in 1971 and the label was distributed by Buddah I guess, although the record was release by A&M in the UK.

It's the first track to be released from the soundtrack which will be released the same day as the movie (i.e. 31 Mar '23).

I was gong to direct you to the Amazon listing by clicking on image for full track listing but it doesn't give the artists, so here is the full track listing with many familiar songs but all cover versions? Pink Sweat$ aloo records another two of Withers' songs, but sadly Ledisi only features on one, a cover of Gladys Knight & The Pips.
