Being the end of the first quarter on 2024 we've scoured
through our 2024 playlists and put together several 'best of' playlists
for Q1 2024 which we'll schedule over the next week as we are on an Easter break.
When you're at the coal face each day mining for new material it can get
rather soul destroying when good soul music is being rather elusive but
when we look back at the first quarter of 2024 it was a challenge
confining the playlist below to 50, ideally we were planning to list
only 30 (90-120 mins). However, we struggled to leave many out so let
the playlist run to 50 tracks with a running time of around 3 hours.
We also attempted to limit it to one track per artist/album but have
failed on a few occasions. Which Sy Smith, Ledisi, TMF or Ricky Jones
tracks, for example, do you include/leave out, but we've had to be
ruthless.
So here's a flavour of 'some' of the best that 2024 has had to offer,
some that you may have already forgotten about or missed completely.
Apologies to artists who haven't made the cut this time (although some
will have been included in out
album selections
and, whilst some album tracks feature, the playlist is focussed
predominantly on singles) but we may have to do a part 2?
