New six track EP from New York's Lorena Mercedes titled "I'll Get It Right Next Time" was released yesterday (13 Aug 2021). Probably only a 'one-tracker', that being "One". 

It appears to be only her third release, her first two were both singles released in 2019 and 2020.

Josh Berkeley [2021] - Just As Friends [Self Released]

Now .. this is what I'm talking about! Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I adore this, pure class, deep and soulful, with a hint of jazz and blues and sadly will 'possibly' sink without trace as it's not really 'commercial' but I would love to be proved wrong! A connoisseur's classic for sure in my book!

Josh Berkeley is originally from Grenada, now living in the big apple. He debuted in 2015 with a single "Don't Wanna Go (Exclusively Yours)" but his next single didn't appear until 2019. He has also released a seven track album/EP "Sunday Morning" in 2020 which is similar material, and is excellent, so I will post it separately even though it's over a year old (29 Feb 2020).

He released his seventh single (and third this year) "Just As Friends" today (14 Aug 2021) which, for me, is the best release of the week.

I've subsequently listened to all his available material and have to ask how has he not got a far higher profile?

Honey Mooncie [2021] - Four Reasons [Self Released]

Honey Mooncie is another of a band of UK musicians based in the south coast resort of Brighton joining Anushka, Ego Ella Mae, Claire Atherton, Jak Chantler, Maddy, Iyamah and  Yakul to name a few.

Still just 20 years old, she has been writing songs since she was 11 and has already released nine singles since her debut in 2019, two of them duets with Sam Wills, who's also from that neck of the woods, in Hastings, and had success with his latest album "Breathe" recently.

Regarded as an up and coming UK artist, her latest single "Four Reasons" was released yesterday (13 Aug 2021)

McClenney [2021] - On A Virgo Mind [Self Released] (Full Album)

Chris McClenney, from Ellicott City, MD, released his sophomore album "On A Virgo Mind"  yesterday *(13 Aug 2021) following up his first "Portrait In Two" from 2017.

The two best tracks have already been released as singles "Kerosene" (Jun) and "Too Much Sun In L.A." (Jul).

It's difficult to label the music on this album, it's alternative, organic, not what you would describe as 'typical' soul music.

He's a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist who's produced for several artists including DRAM and Khalid who he earned a Grammy nomination for working on "Location" in 2018. He's also done several dance remixes.
