TanQueray Hayward [2021] - Definition Of A Woman [TLS Entertainment] (Full Album)

Until today, TanQueray Hayward's debut album, "Definition of A Woman", was only available directly from her website, but is now available on all DSPs with the added bonus of two additional tracks "Say Yes" and "Can't Imagine" which were posted here on 6 Aug.

The album was also posted on the day of release (26 Mar) but with only existing sound files, so here, for the first time, is the full album including the two extra tracks.

TanQueray was voted New Artist of the Year in 2020 by SoulTracks and her career has been followed closely here with a feature on her in January "The Best Of (so far)", prior to the debut album.

Earth Wind & Fire Feat. Lucky Daye [2021] - You Want My Love [Universal]

Earth Wind & Fire team up with Lucky Daye to reimagine "Can't Hide Love" (from their 1975 "Gratitude" album) on a new track titled "You Want My Love". Released today (20 Aug 2021). 

The song was written by Skip Scarborough and first recorded (as "You Can't Hide Love") by Creative Source in 1973 on their eponymous, debut album and was also released as a single. Many others have recorded it since including Carmen McCrae, Isaac Hayes & Dionne Warwick, Dionne Warwick (solo), Art Webb, Jimmy Smith, Hodges James & Smith, D'Angelo and even UK's own Kenny Thomas had a stab at it in 1993.

I predict that this is going to be a monster!

Acantha Lang [2021] - Sugar Woman [Self Released] (Full EP)

Acantha Lang debuted last Dec with the funky "He Said She Said" and followed it up with a song dedicated to her mother "Lois Lang" in Feb. At the end of April she released her third single "Whatever Happened To Our Love". 

Today (20 Aug 2021) she's released a five track EP which incudes all three singles along with a cover of Billy Taylor's  "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" (used for many years as the theme tune on Barry Norman's "The Film Show") and her best track to date "Sugar Woman".

Acantha was born and raised in New Orleans but now lives in London.

Joseph Malik & Niki King [2021] - Reason To Be (North Street Vocal Remix) [Ramrock Red]

Only a couple of weeks ago I belatedly posted Joseph Malik's latest album "Diverse Pt. 3" released on 25 Jun. Today (20 Aug 2021) he releases an EP with four different mixes of  "Reason To Be" from the album. 

The North West Street Vocal Remix (by Jo Wallace and Darren Morris) gives it a more Motown feel which will no doubt appeal to some in the Northern Soul fraternity. It also contains the album version, and instrumentals of each version. Scottish award winning singer/songwriter Niki King is also credited on the EP release.

Jo Wallace is the wife of renown remixer Ashley Beedle who own Ramrock.

Steven Bamidele [2021] - You Were Wrong (Uncrowded EP) [Park The Van]

Steven Bamidele is yet another musician based in the south coast resort of Brighton. He has a five track EP "Uncrowded" due for release on 15 Oct 2021 and has pre-released the lead single "You Were Wrong" from it on 18 Aug.

Elshay [2021] - Pride [Self Released]

Elshay (who I believe may be Samir Elshafie who wrote the song) is from East London and cut his teeth on Grime music. His latest single "Pride" (released 17 Aug 2021) is on that fine line between neo soul and R&B and is quite edgy. It veers on the 'right' side for me and I quite like it. It reminds me of recent Children Of Zeus material, who did quite well, so who knows, this could go the same way?
