CA$H BONU$ & Amber Woodhouse [2022] - Got Me Thinkin' Tonight / Joy & Pain [Money Mouse Records #MM-02]

A debut single by CA$H BONU$ therefore no information about them but one side is a cover of the Frankie Beverly & Maze 80s soul weekender classic "Joy & Pain" which features Amber Woodhouse. The vocals sounded blue-eyed to me but looking her up she is an African-American singer from Nashville.

The official A side "Got Me Thinkin' Tonight" is an original song which also features Amber Woodhouse, along with Pittsburgh DJ/producer Buscrates, with an 80s sound and has already been released in Aug '22.

It's also available on 7" vinyl.

Raquel Martins is a 21 year old singer/guitarist originally from Portugal, now living in London. It looks like she debuted in 2017 with several singles released in Portuguese.

She's featured here once before in Jun 2021 with "Show Me" and released a new single last week (17 Nov) "Fragile Eyes".

Melba Moore [2022] - Not Too Late [MoonTown Records]

Perhaps unbeknown to a non US audience, Melba Moore is a star of US theatre, TV and film appearing in the musical "Hair" (1969) and then winning a Tony Award for best supporting actress for her role in "Purlie". She has appeared in movies "All Dogs Go To Heaven" and "The Fighting Temptations" and in TV shows "Falcon Crest" and "Ellis Island" and even had two of her own TV shows, "The Melba Moore Show" and "Melba Moore Clifton Davis Show".

Ms Moore has just turned 79 on 29 Oct and is still going strong in the music world with an album "Imagine" released in April this year, one of the best singles of the year (for me, as it will certainly be in my shortlist of tracks of the year 2022) "Company" with Carmichael Musiclover (along with a few other singles from the album) and now a brand new single "Not Too Late" due next Friday (25 Nov'22).

Her first recording (as Melba Moore) was in 1966 on Musicor which was later picked up on by the UK Northern Soul scene ("Don't Cry Sing Along With The Music") but her first major hit came in 1976 with "This Is It" which peaked at #9 on UK Pop chart.

In the late 70s and early 80s she enjoyed several dance oriented hits such as "You Stepped into My Life", "Pick Me Up, I'll Dance", "Love's Comin' at Ya", "Mind Up Tonight" and "Falling".

Her latest single "Not Too Late" is available today on the DSPs or from Herb Middleton Music website.

Carmichael Musiclover [2022] - Black Elvis - Western Eyes Vol 1 & Vol. 2 [One Mic Music] (Album Samples)

We've not heard much from Carmichael Musiclover this year, the duet with Melba Moore in Feb. and that's it, but fear not as he has not one, but two, albums due on 8 Dec 2022.  He's titled them: "Black Elvis - Western Eyes Volume One (A-L)" and "Volume Two (P-Z)" don't ask what happened to M,N. & O? They are available for pre-purchase today (25 Nov).

Both albums contain thirteen tracks and it is the smooth and mellow soul we have come to expect from Carmichael. The second volume in particular has some killer tracks such as "Sing", "The Last Day Of Summer", "Thug Life" but as usual Carmichael delivers.

For the last two years his albums have been SoulStrutter albums of the year, perhaps he's managed to squeeze in again this year by the skin of his teeth .. but which volume, or both?
