Roann Feat. RL [2022] - Love Doesn't Live Here [SYNERGY.SD]

Roann (Messina) is from San Diego who released "Love Doesn't Live Here" today (27 Sep 2022) which is her her fifth single since her first in 2018. It features RL who is Robert Lavelle Huggar (one of the song's writers) who is a member of Next and was later signed by Clive Davis to his new J Records label and released a debut solo album "RL:Ements" in 2002 as well as Next's album "The Next Episode". 

She tends to release videos for her singles but as this was only released today there isn't one available yet for the latest single so there's one included for her last single "Heaven On Earth" (11 Feb 2022).

Jean Wells [1968 ] - What Have I Got to Lose (Phillet of Soul Extended Mix) [Calla #C-157]

Posted only yesterday is this Northern Soul/Crossover classic (in my book) from Jean Wells "What Have I Got to Lose", and one of the best records you can buy for less than £50 which I've had for many years but sadly (for me)  the price hasn't moved much from when I bought it which may indicate that it's still a sleeping giant? 

Having listened to it again for the first time in a while I felt that it was just far too short at only 2:25 so sent it to an audio expert to see if it could be extended and hey presto with 24 hours he's returned an extended 4:14 version. See what you think!

Birmingham (UK) singer Monique-Danielle Elis has been developing her craft for eight years having studied Music Performance and jazz. She cites her influences as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Robert Glasper and  Hiatus Kaiyote. The jazz influence is evident in her latest single "Morning Love" (26 Sep) which is from a forthcoming debut EP "Driving To Your Place".

Raemi [2022] - partly cloudy [Power Entertainment] (Full EP)

Born in Toronto but raised in Memphis, Raemi (Rachelle Mitchell) released her first single, "Don't Know Her", in Jul 2022. After three singles, her last being "Find Me" featuring Brian Brown (1 Jul 2022), she has released her debut EP "partly cloudy" consisting of seven tracks (two of which are interludes) including her last single but not the first two.

Carmy Love [2022] - Together Again [Big A.C Records #BIGAC021]

Cast your mind back to March 2021 and the debut single on Big A.C for Carmy Love with "Thinkin' Of You" which was followed by "Rebel" and both were paired for a vinyl release on 28 May 2021. We said at the time that you should snap it up whilst it was available as it would soar in price once sold out and right enough, having just checked Discogs, they are selling for an average of £100 with only five available for sale. In actual fact Big AC have informed that the single was sold out on pre-release. Here at SoulStrutter we gave it a 9.5, rating which is virtually unheard of for new material, it was/is that good, so don't say you weren't warned of it's quality!

Her first single since then "Together Again" is out on Friday (30 Sep 2022), it is also available to pre-order from Big AC Records on 7" vinyl (Nov 2022) with an A side to be announced so be sure to grab it at face value while you can!

Once again the song is written by Nick Corbin and has that authentic retro feel of the previous songs. Big A.C describe it as "having a groove Bobby Womack would have been proud of and with its themes of unity, friendship and positivity, the song is feel-good through and through. Backed by heavy brass, a lush string arrangement and featuring some iconic whispered backing vocals, ‘Together Again’ is a statement that Carmy Love means business!"

Carmy Love is from North West London and was a member of acid jazz group from London New Street Adventure (NSA) (of which Big A.C founder Nick Corbin was also a member). Prior to that she recorded on 'Just Dance' with Cool Million in 2010 on their 'Back For More' album.
