Soul Groove UK is Northampton based DJ/producer Daniel
McNab who's released four singles and now two EPs since July 2020.
His latest EP is "Jaded" which includes an extended version of the original single version of
"Jaded" (22 May '23) along with an 'Ashburnham Soul Mix' of it and another track "Late Night Caller".

Dustinho is a DJ Tshepang Ntsala from Johannesburg who started DJing at 14 and releasing music since 2021.
He released his fifth single "Never Let Go" last month and has since released another on 2 Jun which is a bit too 'clubby' and mainly instrumental. He also has two EP and two albums.

A soulful house 'banger' "Head Up High" by Jason Herd & Barbara Tucker. The talented Ms Tucker is not only a singer, but dancer and actress and is the daughter of Jayotis Washington who was a member of the acapella group The Persuasions.

A new album by Baltimore's Brian 'DJ' Pope ("DJ Pope Presents The Sound Of Baltimore") contains a few reworks such as Jon Lucien's "Listen Love", Indeep's 1982 disco hit "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" (retitled "Last Night Jesus Save My Life"), Gap Band's "Baby Baba Boogie", Teddy P's "I Don't Love You Anymore" and possibly others we don't immediately recognise.
The standout, that drew us to the full album, is "Walk In My Healing" feat. Adrain Blu & Una, (a gospel house thumper which sounds
familiar, so could be a cover with a different name ... sounds similar to
Valentine Bros/Simply Red "Money's Too Tight To Mention" in parts perhaps?) along
with "Has To Be This Way" feat. Dana Weaver.

Another dance classic rejuvenated by Dutch DJ/producer Quinten 909 (Stefan van de Wetering) who utilises Mystic Merlin's club classic "Just Can't Give You Up". Surprisingly, it didn't even make the US R&B chart but
reached #20 on the UK pop chart in 1980 and spent 9 weeks on the
chart.
It was the Brooklyn, NYC, group's second single from a self-titled debut
album. Crooner Freddie Jackson occasionally sang with the group from
1982 prior to his solo career taking off in 1985. The group started out singing and doing magic shows under the name Mystic Merlin's Magic Band before taking music more seriously.
In 2015 Diplomats of Soul released various mixes of the song featuring
Noel McKoy
who passed suddenly and unexpectedly in Nov '22. It was released by Expansion who also reissued their other favourite "Mr Magician" (which had Freddie Jackson on lead) along with "Just Can't Give You Up" on 12" in 2001.
We've included the Diplomats of Soulradio
edit and a short clip of a performance of it by Mystic Merlin, it's a shame it's not full length.
We also found a DMC (Disco Mix Club) exclusive mix by Michael Gray from Feb '23.
The song has been sampled many times, too many to list.

Immediately recognisable as a new instrumental mix of Ashford &
Simpson's "It Seems To Hang On" (1978) which was the first of only four UK chart hits for the couple as
artists. Their only top 40 hit in the UK was "Solid" which peaked at #3 in
1984.
This version is by German DJ Andy Bach (Andreas Mäusbacher) and was included on a three track compilation "Crossed Signals, Vol. 15".
There is another version of the song by
Groove Junkies
which is due on 19 Jun '23. but you can hear a preview on
Traxsource.
For any youngsters who haven't had the pleasure of the original, the full, unexpurgated, 12" version is included below and it still sounds great to these ears!

Hamburg DJ/Producer FF Edits (Frank Cornelsen) follows up
"Sho Nuff" which sampled Barry White's "Sho You Right" with a 1979 Norman
Whitfield composition "Show Time" by Undisputed Truth which he has titled "Ready To Get Down".
He certainly 'adds value' to this one with a much heavier bassline and
ups the beat from 94 to 110 to give it a new lease of life.
We thought we'd posted "Sho Nuff" in Feb but it appears not so it's also included
below.

Detroit's Terri 'Diviniti' Smith has released her debut solo album "In Due Time". It's produced by Josh Milan who also provided some background vocals
and plays all instruments. Also on BGVs is Dawn Tallman.
Diviniti is best know for dance music this is her venture into soul and
jazz. She released "I'm The Best" in 2021 with four versions, the version on the album is a new version.
Also released as a single in April was "Magic".
Despite stating that all songs were written by Smith and Milan, the album
included is cover of Odyssey's 1982 hit "Inside Out".

Another 'sampler' from Assal who has featured here
previously with other new dance tracks that sampled from the 70s. We don't
recognise the sample that "Somebody" is based on, if any, so any of you vinyl hounds who may know it then
put us out of our misery.
We've received a comment from DJ Kool Keith suggesting that the sample
may be from Fonda Rae "Over Like A Fat Rat" (1982) and there are
similarities in the bassline to the break at around 4:10 of Fonda Rae's
song, included below so you can decide for yourself.
UPDATE: We have another, more plausible, candidate, as Ray Oyers has left a
comment suggesting Thundercat "Them Changes" from "Drunk" 2017 (included below) which samples The Isley Brothers
"Footsteps In The Dark".

A recent single from Angel Sessions with her daughter
Shardella is "Revoked" released at the end of April. It is a song jointly written by both
about staying true to someone you are with and taking the time to listen
to one another, or it can be that the situation will be Revoked. It's a
play on words to get it right.
Angel Sessions is an urban gospel artist from Louisville, KT, now resident
in L.A. She was signed to Ichiban records in 1998 and released
around four secular albums before switching to gospel and has, to
date, released eighteen albums.
She (re) released "You Missed a Good Thing" in Mar 2022 which was a song originally on her debut album "Introducing... Angel Sessions" in 1998. Another single "Wait for Me" (Jul '22) was taken from her second album ("Love Ride" in 1999) and a four track EP "Called (Chosen)" (Mar '23) followed. We notice that her latest single "Let's Go Ride" was released on 12 May and is also from her sophomore album "Love Ride".
Angel has performed with Lenny Williams, The Delfonics, The
Stylistics, Brenda Holloway, Freda Payne, Ali Woodson (The
Temptation), The Dells, Mary Wilson (she toured with Mary Wilson as a
Supreme), The Dramatics, L.J. Reynolds (lead singer of the Dramatics),
Maurice White (Earth Wind and Fire), James Brown, Teena Marie, Tamia,
Montel Jordan, H Town, The Whispers and Eric Benet.
Shardella has been singing since she was 11 years old and was a
member of a girl group One Unity who recorded just one album before
disbanding. She continued with a solo career and released a debut
album "The of Evolution of Shardella" in 2017 and her second "Gemini Szn" in 2022. In addition she's now released around a dozen singles
including "Vibe" in 2018 which featured her mother Angel (included below).
