Dennis Taylor [2022] - Smile (Drizabone Remix) [Dome]

As a taster ahead of the release tomorrow (24 Jun 2022) of the second volume of Dome 30 Years compilation here's the killer cut. It's the Drizabone Remix (Billy Freeman (aka April)) of Dennis Taylor's "Smile" which was a modern soul floorfiller back in 2000 from his Dome debut album "Enough Is Enough". It got a 12" release later in 2001.

There is no official word yet, but I'd be very surprised if this wasn't going to be released as a single. The 2000 original is also posted below.

Dome 30 Years Vol. 2, like Vol .1 released at the end of April, contains another 25 tracks of Dome releases over the last 30 years, obviously!

A few of the tracks have already been doing the rounds as singles i.e. Full Flava Feat. Hazel Fernandes "Nature Boy (Michele Chiavarini Lounge Mix)" (29 Apr), Anthony David & Algebra Blessett with "Heaven" (20 May) and more recently Shaun Escoffery "Set Me Free" (17 Jun).

The full album will be posted tomorrow which includes tracks from Jarrod Lawson, Brenda Russell, Rahsaan Patterson, George Duke, Eric Roberson with Will Downing and Conya Doss along with featuring British artists such as Lulu, Paul Weller, Incognito and Beverley Knight.

Beth Macari [2022] - Circles [Self Released] PROMO

It's been almost a year since we last heard from Beth Macari with "Love You More" last July which followed her dance floor hit "Gotta Get Back" and its Remixes, both UK Soul Chart top 10 songs.  She decided to take a break from music after the bereavement of her grandmother who she was very close to.

Beth, from Newcastle, was a member of Nick Pride & The Pimptones before going solo around 2018 and released her debut album "I Am Everything" in 2020', the lead singe from which, "I Promise (That I Got You)", was a US Soul Chart top 20 hit. 

Discounting remixes, her new single, "Circles", (due 1 Jul 2022) will be around her eleventh single since 2018.

She tells us that "Circles is a song about the pressures of being a woman, in all aspects of life! The worries of getting older, the struggles of working in the music industry, all of the doubts that we all have about the decisions we make day to day".

I.R.I.S (Iris Lalande) was born in Paris and now lives in South London. She debuted with a four track EP "CHROMATIC, VOL. 1" in March 2021.

Rose Gold [2022] - Addicted [Soulection]

Rose Gold originates from Baltimore, MD, but now lives in L.A. She released her latest single "Addicted" today (23 Jun 2022) which appears to be about her eighth single to date since her first in 2019. 

The new single has got a good groove going on but may be hindered from radio airplay owing to a few expletives.

Nia Wyn [2022] - Magical Thinking [Self Released] (Full EP)

Nia Wyn is an emerging artist from North Wales who has already supported Paul Weller and Paloma Faith. She states her influences include Northern Soul, the jazz/blues of Billie Holiday and Lauryn Hill. 

She released an eight track EP "Take A Seat" in March 2021. Her debut solo release was in March 2019 with a six track, self-titled EP.

A couple of her singles have featured here "What Did You Expect" (Jun 2021) and "Who Asked You" (Aug 2021) which was the official FIFA 21 soundtrack.

Today (23 Jun 2022) she has released another EP "Magical Thinking" consisting of six tracks. It contains her last three singles "Checkmate" (May 2022), "Oughta Be" (Apr 2022) and "Leave My Bed" (Mar 2022) and, as there is a new video premiered today for "Guilty", I assume that will be the next single.

I've labelled it as neo soul but it's hard to pigeon-hole as the jazz influences certainly come through, and I can't help but draw parallels with another well known Welsh singer, Duffy who has a similar singing style.

The latest single from Colemine's Harlem Gospel Travellers is the title track from their forthcoming sophomore album "Look Up!" due on 16 Sep 2022.

It's got the four on the floor 60s throwback beat so will no doubt appeal to the Northern Soul crew.
