Jean Carn Dead?

Rumours are flying around social media and the internet claiming that Jean Carn has died. This is totally false and Melba Moore has made a facebook post within the last hour refuting the claims as she has just got off the phone with her.

So the moral is don't believe all the BS bandied around on social media! As Jean sang in 1976 "It's No Laughing Matter" ...a disgrace in fact! 

Some 'half-wit' presumably saw the headline of Jean's latest project "Jean Carn - Jazz Is Dead" and didn't bother, as so many morons do on social media, reading the full article and jumped to conclusions seeking some 'click bait'!

In the words of Mark Twain: "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated!"

Ramón Caubet & Pepe Vidal [2022] - Sara Smile [Self Released]

The title of the song drew me into listening to this release. The classic Daryl Hall & John Oates ballad "Sara Smile" from 1975. This is a jazz guitar instrumental version by Majorcan Ramón Caubet. A nice lazy summery vibe which won't set the world on fire but a good enough reason to post a couple of other versions.

We may as well have the original. Secondhandsongs lists 50 different versions and Northern Soul legend J.J. Barnes did the first cover in 1977 which was released on John Abbey's (Blues & Soul) Contempo label and shortly afterwards he recorded another cover on the label of Ace's "How Long". He also recorded an album for the label titled "Sara Smile" which contained both.

Montrael [2022] - Something Different [MontiiCarloRecords] (Full Album)

Montrael (aka Montii Carlo) is from Rochester, NY, who released her first single "Moment" in 2018 with a six track EP following in July 2019. She has since released several singles and a full album, with her sophomore album, "Something Different", being released on Friday (22 Jul 2022).

She uses the name Montrael Singletary for songwriting credits, so I assume that is her real name.

The album is mainly downtempo R&B style songs with "94 Classic" standing out.

Sam Redmore Feat. Lumi HD [2022] - Just Can't Wait [Jalapeno]

Birmingham (UK) remixer Sam Redmore released his latest single "Just Can't Wait" last Friday (15 Jul 2022). It features female vocalist Lumi HD who also featured on the last single that was featured here by him in Jan 2022 "Party". From her accent in the live video below I'd guess she's from, or near, Birmingham, certainly west midlands. Whilst the performance was from last year, the video was only posted on Friday (22 Jul)

Ariel Lianne [2022] - Mesmerized [Self Released] (Full Album)

Ariel Lianne only has two singles and now two albums listed. She is originally from Winchester, KS, but now lives in Dallas, TX.

Her second album "Mesmerized" has been around a couple of weeks but seems to have got buried as it was a midweek release on 6 Jul 2022.

The opening track "Never Leave" is probably the pick of the pack with "Medusa" and "Make Em Say" also appealing.
