Prima [2023] - Music to Break Up To [Midication Recordings] (Full EP)

The first new solo material this year from Manchester's Prima is a four track EP "Music to Break Up To" which follows her debut album "Scandalous" exactly a year ago (24 Apr 2022). 

The prime tracks include "Falling Apart" and it's a toss up between "Make Up Sex" and "Lifeboat" featuring Mancunian  afro-beat artist Prido. I guess it depends upon your tolerance to rap! We are leaning more towards the former track on another listen.

There will be an official EP launch party at Off The Square, Northern Quarter, Manchester,  tomorrow evening (29 Apr) featuring performances from Manchester's finest R&B talent whit a line-up which, in addition to Prima, includes Prido, Via Luna, Mya, Meduulla.

ilselena [2023] - he’s so loveable [Self Released]

A new single titled "he’s so loveable" by ilselena Johnston-Darnell. Do you recognise the surname? 

After featuring on other's recordings, she made her solo debut in May 2020 with "Seventeen" and last Feb ('22) released her debut four track EP "if this is the future".

She is the daughter of zoot-suited August Darnell, aka Kid Creole who, with his Coconuts, had several hits in the 80s with Kid Creole & The Coconuts and then Elbow Bones & the Racketeers. Prior to that he was in Machine ("There But For The Grace Of God Go I") and before that formed Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band with his half brother (Stan Browder). 

Another of Darnell's daughters, Savanna, appeared on Love Island in 2018. He also has, at least, two sons Dario Younger Brigham-Bowes (aka Youngr) and Lorne Ashley Brigham-Bowes who formed a group called Picture Book in 2012. Youngr now has a solo career.

Amina Buddafly [2023] - U Slippin [Self Released]

The best track for a new 15 track album "4.0" from Amina Buddafly. is "U Slippin'". The remainder of the album is R&B which isn't really suitable for this site but here's the link to it if you wish to check our homework!

Amina Buddafly is Amina Schmahl/Pankey who was born in Hamburg of Senegalese and German descent. After moving to the US she formed a group Choyce with her sisters, Sophie and Safietou (aka Jazz), who released just one single in 1998 and later became Black Buddafly who released a couple of singles in 2005/06 before Sophie left the group which then became dormant. Amina launched her solo career via VH1 reality series 'Love and Hip-Hop' returning to music after the series releasing a debut solo album, "Mymusic", in 2015.
