Lamone [2021] - You Complete Me (CT Remix) [LCA]

Lamone's last single "You Complete Me", which featured jazz saxophonist Najee, was released on 7 May 2021 and reached #6 on the Global Soul chart. It has had a CT Remix (who's CT?) and was released yesterday (6 Aug 2021).

The tempo's been upped by about 7% (from 98 to 105), it sounds like Najee's elements have been removed and it's been given a bit of a more urban / jerky feel (it also sounds like someone's jerking weights in it!). I don't wish to be a 'party pooper' but I think I prefer the original!

Fountain Delano [2021] - Phazes of Love, Pt. 1 & 2 [Exclusive Recordings] (Full EP)

A five track EP from Fountain Delano (Frederick) (from Raleigh, NC) "Phazes of Love, Pt. 1" was reissued last Sunday (1 Aug 2021). along with "Phazes of Love, Pt. 2". They were both originally issued on Exclusive Recordings in 2014 and are still available from BandCamp.

A bio on Exclusive records website states that both his parents were singers, his father sang with Sam Cooke, The Mighty Clouds Of Joy and several other gospel groups, whilst his mother released several albums on Capitol. It doesn't say what her stage name was as I can't find anything using Frederick as her surname.

India Shawn [2021] - Don't Play With My Heart [Epic]

India Shawn (aka India Boodram) last appeared on the blog back in March with a single released on 25 Feb feat. Unknown Mortal Orchestra "Too Sweet". Her first single since then, excepting a guest appearance on a rap single from Prince Hakeem, is "Don't Play With My Heart" released yesterday (6 Aug 2021). 

A 70s influenced video (Silk Sonic influence perhaps? ... as she collaborated on a single with Anderson .Paak last year) has also been released to launch the single. I'm 'feeling' this one, which should do well, although it won't necessarily set the world alight!

India was born in L.A. but now lives in Atlanta, GA. She released her debut album "Origin" in 2012 but had already been writing songs for others for ten years as part of a team of three writers known as Full Circle which included her sister Jazmyn Michel and friend Kesia Hollins.

Anthony Hamilton [2021] - Love Is The New Black [BMG]

Anthony Hamilton's latest album "Love Is The New Black" is due for release on 24 Sep 2021. In May he released a single "You Made A Fool Of Me" which will feature on the new album, and yesterday (6 Aug 2021) he has released the title track as his new single.

I quite liked the last single but many didn't seem to appreciate it. The new one should have a broader appeal.

NNAVY [2021] - in good company [Deep Blue Music] (Full EP)

NNAVY last featured on the blog in May on a single with Chelan titled "Patterns" which was a belated posting for a single released in March. That should have put us on warning for what was to come.  She has since released another three collaborative singles ("For the future" feat. Paul Silve, "Helios" feat. A.W.A and "Caramélisé feat. Iya Ko) which are all included on her new six track EP "in good company" released yesterday (6 Aug 2021). 

The best track is undoubtedly "Run Away" but the whole EP is rather pleasant.

NNAVY is originally from Burundi (East Africa) now living in Lausanne, Switzerland. She's released five singles, this EP and an album "Blue", all since 2020.
