Jazzlyn Soul [2022] - Chasing That Dream [Savannah Street Music] (Full EP)

From the same label as Krishawna (i.e. Savannah Street Music) is a debut release (7 May 2022) by Jazzlyn Soul (aka Jazzlyn Brown and on songwriting credits appears as Jasslyn Renee Norris). 

It's a six track EP "Chasing That Dream" on which I noticed that Krishawna's manager, Ben Obi, is co-writer with Jazzlyn on all tracks.

The two tracks doing it for me are "Stuck" and "Rainy Days".

Not surprisingly, Jazzlyn like Krishawna, is from Minnesota

SWR Big Band & Ola Onabule [2022] - Soul Town [SWR Music]

Well here we have it, a big band version of Ola Onabule's 2015 modern soul smash "Soul Town". Several versions were flying around including Drizabone, Mike Maurro and CW (Colin Watson) mixes, but the 'in-demander' was the Nigel Lowis Remix coupled with the CW Remix (a more 'traditional' mix) which saw a 7" vinyl release. There are currently none available for sale on Discogs and the last one to sell, sold for £50 with £75 being the highest price paid which gives an indication of how in demand it is on vinyl.

Ola has a new album due soon on SWR Music "Soul Encounter" with SWR Big Band and one of the tracks is the new 'big band' version of "Soul Town". Silky smooth vocals on a mellowed down version of a great song with real musicians, what's not to like?

Three tracks from the album have been drip fed as singles for the last three months consecutively "Swinging Wide" (Feb), "Let Love Alone" (Mar) and "Every Prey" (Apr).

Ola was born in London, relocating to Nigeria for his secondary school years before returning to London at 17. He began his recording career in 1995 and the new album will be his tenth.

Brooklynn Skye [2022] - Take You There [Self Released]

Another debut release, this time from Brooklynn Skye Scott from Chicago with a single "Take You There" released today (12 May 2022). I believe that she is a bass guitarist, so probably not a complete newcomer but this does appear to be her first solo release.

Jordan Lee [2022] - Easy [Multi Recordings]

A single released by Jordan Lee today (12 May 2022) called "Easy". There are so many artist named Jordan Lee that I can't decipher which one this single belongs to so rather than put bad links there are no links and obviously I can't find any information on the artist. The one this track is listed under on Spotify is from Paris, but Spotify is not always correct.

Sydney ChiChi [2022] - 11:11 Volume 1 [Manifesto Productions] (Full EP)

I was originally going to post Sydney ChiChi (Sydney Connors) for the single "Stay Away" released on 22 Apr, but she has since released a six track EP "11:11 Volume 1" on 30 Apr 2022 which was her birthday.

Sydney is from Cleveland, OH, and debuted only on 11 Apr with a single "Frequency" (not included on the EP). Sadly, from viewing recent facebook posts, her father died on 3 May 2022 and there is a memorial service from him on Saturday, so sincere condolences to her and her family.

All songs are self-written, with "Stay Away" being the standout track which sounds familiar, so perhaps it has an underlying sample? (the more I listen, the more convinced I am that it sounds like something else .. that I can't recall at present .. anybody?) 

All tracks are marked as explicit but I certainly don't hear anything particularly untoward in "Stay Away".

Claudia Campagnol [2022] - Confused [Giant Sheep Music]

With a name like Claudia Campagnol you'd be forgiven for thinking that she was Italian but in fact she was born in Budapest, Hungary and now lives in Malmo, Sweden. 

She featured on the blog in March 2021 with a dance edit of an album track "Do You Love Me", and has a new single out today (12 May 2022) "Confused" which is a mid-tempo soul jazz number, which for some reason reminds me of Output/Input as it has a similar vibe. Also think along the lines of Lindsey Webster.
