Bill Harris [1975] - Am I Cold, Am I Hot [RCA Victor #PB-10520]

Inspired by a witty remark left on facebook in response to Roger Williams complaining (tongue-in-cheek) that he was 'freezing' yesterday after the heatwave of up to 40C in the last couple of days.

Bill Harris' modern soul gem "Am I Cold, Am I Hot" from 1975 written, arranged and produced by Van McCoy. The comment was 'make up your mind' with a link to a YouTube clip to Bill Harris' song, which reminds me of yet another modern soul gem, "Why Don't You Make Up Your Mind" a 1981 album only track (until it was reissued on 7" in 2020 by Expansion) by Peabo Bryson which was posted when released by Expansion.

The only other recording listed for Harris is the equally good "Uptown Saturday Night" from 1974 (produced by Van McCoy) which was the title track from an action comedy blaxploitation movie which starred Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby and Harry Belafonte. It also got spins on Northern Soul dancefloors and actually got a UK release on Warner Bros..

Everything Van McCoy has touched is nothing but happiness. He was a genius!!! Too bad he died so young.
