JKABEL [2022] - Rhythm & Bible [Self Released] (Full Album Samples)

The long awaited new album from JKABEL is due for release on Wednesday 22 Jun 2022.

Jared Kabel Holloway aka JKABEL (pronounced Jay-Kay-Bul) is originally from Florida. He learnt to play the piano at a young age and then went to college to study acting which led to him touring with a stage play in 2005 for three years. When that ended in 2008 he started writing songs and relocated to Minnesota in 2013. He released his debut R&B single "Do What You Wanna Do" in 2016 and now has five albums under his belt. with his fifth, "Rhythm & Bible", due for release on Wednesday 22 Jun 2022.

He has kindly sent a promo for review so there are short samples of each track below. The full album will be posted on release.

Several tracks have already appeared as singles: "Love You Still" (Mar 2022), "Holy" (Dec 2021) and "Keeper Of My Soul" (Nov 2021). 

JKABEL has a distinctive sound which is soulful, contemporary gospel. I believe that the album was originally due on 6 April but the wait has been well worth it with sixteen tracks with no fillers. Another album you can just hit play on and leave it without feeling the urge to skip a track. I am really struggling to choose a favourite, so won't as the whole album is very good, but if you were twisting my arm then, on only a first listen, "Believe" and "New Friends" seem to stand out, and I have it on good authority that "New Friends" 'may' be the next single!

We really have been blessed with some excellent albums over the last few weeks commencing with Michon Young "LLE Vol 3 Conversation Piece", Blue Soul Ten "This Is Worth It", Mica Millar "Heaven Knows", Tyra LeVone  "Chronicles Of Life" and now this excellent set from JKABEL.

Arrisa [2022] - Always On My Mind [PW Productions]

A new old school (80s) style single "Always On My Mind" from Arrisa (Walker) from Atlanta, GA. The only other recording I can find for her is a EP "Peace Luv & Jammin'" from March 2014 (which she recorded when she was only 16/17) and is also rather good, if you like old school, so I've included it below.

All songs are co-written with Patrick Walker, her husband? or maybe her father or brother as she was so young when the EP was recorded.

Eric Nolan & Walter Williams Sr. [2022] - Give Her Your Love (Radio Edit) [Boy Wonder Records]

Eric Nolan and Walter Williams Sr. are two thirds of the current O'Jays line up who 'desert' Eddie Levert for a new single "Give Her Your Love". 

Whilst this is a new single, released on 27 May 2022, Eric Nolan released it on his 2014 "Mood Swing" album, which incidentally has a version of Anita Baker's "You Bring Me Joy" on it.

Walter Williams Sr. is an original member of The O'Jays formed in 1958 along with Eddie Levert, Bill Massey, Bill Isles and William Powell. By the 70s, and their Philly International / Gamble & Huff period, they were reduced to a trio after Massey and Isles left. Massey died in 1977 and was replaced by Sammy Strain of  Little Anthony & The Imperials who in turn was replaced by Nathaniel Best  in 1992 who Eric Nolan Grant then replaced later in the 90s.

Mike Di Lorenzo [2022] - What We Need [KeepTheGroove] (Full Album)

Keyboardist Mike Di Lorenzo has performed with a wide range of artists including Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston, Gerald Alston, Regina Belle and even Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry, to name a few. 

He  puts on his producer's hat and features guests artists such as  Anna Moore, Joel Kibble (Take 6), Sonna Rele, Denise Stewart and CaiNo on a new album "What We Need" which includes mostly original songs with a few covers.

Standouts include his interpretation/reimagination of Charlie Puth & Selena Gomez's "We Don't Talk Anymore" feat. Sonna Rele, a laid back rendition of Loleatta Holloway's "Runaway" feat. Anna Moore and the title track "What We Need".
