Mike De'Cole [2021] - Nights Like This [Soul Undercover #SUM001]

A great new release from Mike De'Cole drops on Friday 25 Jun 2021 on vinyl ONLY. I 'think' it's only available via Global Soul so click on image below to go to their online store to pre-order as this one is going to sell out for sure as it's been quite heavily promoted for several weeks and it's a killer tune.

Mike De'Cole McDaniel is from the south side of Chicago, now living in Minneapolis. He released his debut album "So It Was Written" in 2016.  In 2018 he released a four track EP "Simply Wonderful" which brought him to the attention of UK soul lovers and the track "Let's Lay Back" topped the UK soul chart.  I've embedded the album and EP below in addition to a 60 sec sample of his new release.

Cornell C.C. Carter [2021] - Not Possible [CDC] Due Friday 25 Jun

Cornell C.C. Carter from the Bay Area has been a favourite with the UK soul crowd since his debut solo album "In The Moment" in 2016. Since then he has released another three albums, "Vindicated Soul" 2017 (a covers album), "One Love" 2018, and "Absoulutely" 2019.

After the success of his last album "Absoulutely" (and a few 45 releases on Izipho Soul) he is releasing a new single "Not Possible" on Friday (25 Jun 2021) from a forthcoming album "Next Life" due around Sep. It will be available on CD and vinyl from Patrick Biggerstaff's Izipho Soul.  

DJ Spen (Sean Spencer) is already working on a remix of "Not Possible" scheduled for release at the end of July.

In his career, Cornell has opened for many big artists including James Brown, Ray Charles, The Temptations, Kool & The Gang, The Whispers and Natalie Cole. He is an in-demand session vocalist and vocal coach and has appeared on many albums, including recently on Santana's latest album and on several Narada Michael Walden productions.

No sound file is currently available to share until release on all DSP's on Friday, but it's classic modern soul tailored for the UK market.

Lin Rountree [2021] - Fluid [Trippin 'n Rhythm] (Full Album)

More jazz trumpeting (following Willie Bradley already posted today). This time from Lin Rountree from VA, now based in Detroit (who has just featured on Conya Doss's latest album "Through Rose-Colored Glasses" on the track "Show Me".

His new album "Fluid" (his seventh) was released on Friday (18 Jun 2021) and the standout tracks from a soul perspective are "Me For Me" featuring Lindsey Webster on vocal duties and, if you like it more on the jazzy side, "With You" featuring Selina Albright is sensational. 

However, if you like your jazz funk, then there are some other great tracks including "Release" and "FuSion" in particular. This is an excellent album and the best jazz album of the year so far to my ears. Highly recommended.

Doc E.C. [2021] - Please Take Care of My Heart [Self Released]

Doc E.C. (Elijah Cole) is a singer-songwriter from Port Arthur, TX, now living in Midway, FL, who formed a band called Slique whilst at high school, joining another before college.

After many years hawking demos and trying to get support from a major label, Doc has returned to music as an independent artist and aims to release an album "Love Changes", consisting of songs he was written over many years, later this year.

I would guess that this song was written in the late 80s / early 90s as it has that feel.
