Nic Hanson [2024] - Lola [Vokall Records]

Brooklyn, NYC, based, Philadelphian blue-eyed soul singer Nic Hanson has been on the scene since 2016.  We've not come across his music before which is surprising when you consider that he has six songs on Spotify that have received in excess of 1m streams, "Keep The Faith" (2017) has just shy of 20m!

His latest single "Lola" (which just happens to be the name of our 4 yr old Sheltie) was released on Friday (17 May) and is already high on Amazon Hot New Releases (#5 last night).

It has a bit of an 80s groove but also a hint of Marvin Gaye (Inner City Blues in places perhaps?)

MT Jones [2024] - Tough Love [Self Released]

The second track from Liverpool's MT Jones' debut four track self-titled EP (due in Sep) is "Tough Love" due out on Wed 22 May.

Having been supporting Jalen Ngonda on his current tour (the UK dates of which have been postponed until later this year owing to Jalen's ill health) Jones is about to embark on his own UK tour and featured on Robert Elms' BBC Radio London show on Friday (17 May).

Included below is a live performance of "All I Do" the first track released from the EP in March.

Toucan [2024] - Don't Understand Why [Self Released] (Full EP)

We first came across Toucan in Feb with his single "Don't Understand Why" and it's humorous supporting music video (Note that it's an actor not Toucan in the video). A very pleasant, melodic,  blue-eyed soul song we thought. 

Since then he's released another single, "You At Last", in April and today a four track EP, "Don't Understand Why", that includes both singles along with two new songs, our choice being "If This Isn't Love".

Toucan is the artist name for Conor Clancy from Tramore, Ireland. He debuted in March 2018 with "We Fell For Miles" which was then included on a four track, self-titled, EP the following August. A further EP was delivered in 2019. His next two singles in 2020 were covers of "Lovely Day" and "Dancing In The Moonlight".

Noira [2024] - So good [Launching Gagarin Records]

Noira is Nóri Rajcsányi, a Hungarian artist from Budapest, when not singing she runs her Tortashka cake making business. 

She has been recording her music since 2020 with a dozen singles and an EP now released and plans to release her debut album later this year.

Her latest single "So good" was released today, a neo soul tune with jazz undertones.

Dylan Chambers [2024] - For Your Listening Pleasure [Self Released] (Full EP)

One of our 'discoveries', that seemed to have been missed whilst we were on our Easter break (released 10 Apr) that we found upon our return, was Dylan Chambers' "I Can Never Get Enough" posted on 24 Apr and thereafter promptly featured on Amazon Hot New Releases, helped in no small way by featuring on the UK Soul Chart Breakers after finding it here no doubt!

Japanese label P-Vine released Chambers' debut album "For Your Listening Pleasure" on CD (18 Oct '23) and vinyl (13 Dec '23) but the vinyl edition has a shorter track listing (13 vs 15) and does not include the latest single. A shorter version still (only 7 tracks) has been released digitally today.

If you're expecting more of the same then you may be disappointed as much of it is very pop oriented, as we said on the post for his last single. It does include one we posted in Feb '23 "Don't Give Up On My Love" which we think is about the best of the rest.
