MT Jones [2024] - Tough Love [Self Released]

The second track from Liverpool's MT Jones' debut four track self-titled EP (due in Sep) is "Tough Love" due out on Wed 22 May.

Having been supporting Jalen Ngonda on his current tour (the UK dates of which have been postponed until later this year owing to Jalen's ill health) Jones is about to embark on his own UK tour and featured on Robert Elms' BBC Radio London show on Friday (17 May).

Included below is a live performance of "All I Do" the first track released from the EP in March.

MT Jones [2024] - All I Do [Self Released]

Up and coming UK retro soul singer, MT Jones, from Liverpool releases his seventh single and second this year, "All I Do", which follows "Made Up Your Mind" from January.

A pair of singles from last year ("I'd Be Lying" which we posted from promo suggesting that it reminded us of Robert Parker's "Caught You In A Lie") and "In My Arms") were licensed by Cliff  Steele's Creative Soul for the label's fifth vinyl single, which sold out.

Whether they already knew each other, both being from Liverpool, we don't know for sure, but Jones has been supporting Jalen Ngonda on his current European tour. We found a video clip from Ngonda's Paris show on 24 Mar duetting with Jones on the Aaron Neville classic "Tell It Like It Is". The channel has a few more videos from the show with individual performances by Ngonda and Jones.

Jones has also been supporting Mamas Gun and, as suggested on the sleeve, the new single is from his forthcoming debut EP due in September.

MT Jones [2023] - Wasting My Time [Self Released]

The latest, and fifth, single within the last year from Liverpool's MT Jones is "Wasting My Life". Again it's a retro song like his previous four: "I'd Be Lying" (May '23),  "In My Arms" (Feb '23), "Feeling Lonely" (Dec '22) and "I Won't Say Goodbye" (Nov '22).

It features his first music video, although his first two singles were supported by live videos.

MT Jones [2023] - I'd Be Lying [Self Released]

We featured Liverpool's MT Jones with his third single "In My Arms" in Feb and took the opportunity of posting live videos for his first two singles "I Won't Ever Say Goodbye" (19 Nov '22) and "Feeling Lonely" (29 Dec '22).

He now has a fourth called "I'd Be Lying". No release date has been given but possibly out tomorrow or next Friday.

Like his previous singles it's a 60s/70s style retro soul in the vein of Kelly Finnigan and Durand Jones & The Indications and their like. As it kicks off it is reminiscent of Robert Parker "I Caught You In A Lie".

He has featured on BBC Introducing on 1Xtra and last night (3 May '23) played London's Pizza Express, Holburn.

MT Jones [2023] - In My Arms [Self Released]

The third single from Liverpool's MT Jones is released today. Like his previous two "In My Arms" is 60s/70s style retro sweet soul in the vein of Kelly Finnigan and Durand Jones & The Indications.

Jones' debut single "I Won't Ever Say Goodbye" was released on 19 Nov '22 which he followed with "Feeling Lonely" on 29 Dec, both also included below.

He has featured on BBC Introducing on 1Xtra and has a upcoming gig at London's Pizza Express, Holburn, on 3 May '23
