Slowe [2023] - WYLTK (The Sindecut & Ijeoma Remix) & Fix Me Up (Dutchie Remix) [Tru Thoughts]

A set of four remixes of two tracks from Bristol based producer/multi-instrumentalist Slowe's (Sophie Hawes) debut album "Where The Mind Wanders" (Jul '23). 

The set consists of vocal and instrumental mixes of "WYLTK" (a single Nov' 22) and "Fix Me Up" (a single Mar '23). 

Pioneers of the UK hip-hop scene, The Sindecut & Ijeoma, recreate "WYLTK" by infusing it with infectious, boom bap beats. Slowe's vocal is paired with new harmonies from Ijeoma whilst Ernie Mckone and Matt Chandler add bass and electric guitar into the mix,

Fellow Bristol-based producer and songwriter Dutchie (Elizabeth Holland) gives a bass-driven revamp to "Fix Me Up" feat. Rachai (Rachel Bowen). She produces a club-ready refresh and takes the tempo up a notch, transforming the track with her upbeat, dubbed out breaks approach whilst retaining Rachai's vocals. Duchie released her interpretation of Erykah Badu's "On And On" in July.

Slowe [2023] - Where The Mind Wanders [Tru Thoughts #TRU 444D] (Full Album)

Raised in the Welsh border town of Chepstow, Bristol-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, artist and songwriter Slowe (aka Sophie Hawes) has been writing music and performing in bands since her teens. During a hiatus from performing, she gravitated towards self-sufficient production, turning her hand to an array of instruments including flute, keys and guitar to recreate the styles of her favourite producers. 

Over the last year she has released five singles via Brighton's Tru Thoughts label building up to her debut album, "Where The Mind Wanders", which includes all five singles plus five new songs. 

The first "WLYTK" (Nov '22) is an avant-soul exploration of withheld feelings, followed in Jan '23 with the retro-tinged slow jam "Superego", urban jazz-hop groove "Fix Me Up" (Mar '23) featuring Rachai and "Stay Right Here" (May '23) with the the final, psychedelia-tinged single "Calibrate" earlier this month which closes the album. 

The news songs are "Feel" featuring local Bristolian musicians: Eli Jitsuto (Snazzback) on guitar, Sam Fox (bass), Conor Harrington (drums) and Laurence Fazakerly Buglass (keys), the J Dilla inspired instrumental "Inertia" featuring the sax of Oli Morris, "A Simple Act", "Solar" which aims to capture a 70s acoustic soul feel and finally the floaty / mellow "Lunar".

Slowe [2023] - Calibrate [Tru Thoughts]

The fifth and ultimate track from the forthcoming album "Where The Mind Wanders" by Slowe (Sophia Hawes from Bristol) which is due for release on 28 Jul.

We've posted three of them "WYLTK" (Nov '22), "Fix Me Up" (Mar '23) and "Stay Right Here" (May '23) omitting "Superego" (Jan '23).

The latest one is "Calibrate" released 6 Jun which she states is her favourite track to date, "This song is the one I'm most proud of"  with inspiration taken from artsists such as Tyler, The Creator and Tame Impala. 

The floating guitar riff is by Snazzback member Eli Jitsuto with Samuel Fox adding vintage synth, fuzzy bass and the spacey drum break. which results in a jazzy production with psychedelic undertones.

Slowe [2023] - Stay Right Here [Tru Thoughts]

Staying with Brighton's ground breaking Tru Thoughts label. The fourth single from Bristol producer Slowe's (Sophia Hawes) forthcoming debut album "Where The Mind Wanders" (due on 28 Jul '23) is "Stay Right Here" slipped out on Tuesday (16 May).

The other three singles are her debut single "WYLK" (Nov '22), "Supoerego" (Jan '23) and "Fix Me Up" (Mar '23).

Slowe Feat. Rachai [2023] - Fix Me Up [Tru Thoughts]

Bristol based producer Sophie Hawes aka Slowe, released her debut single "WYLTK" (wouldn't you like to know) for Brighton's Tru Thoughts label in Nov '22. Since then she released another single "Superego" (24 Jan '23) and her third single "Fix Me Up" feat. Rachai (Rachel Bowen) is out today (16 Mar '23).

The song, which she co-wrote with Rachai, is from her forthcoming debut album "Where The Mind Wanders".

Rachai released her debut single "Stuck" on 28 Jan '23.
