Anita Baker celebrates her 65th birthday on 26 Jan 2023, and
also the 40th anniversary of her debut solo album, with a 15 city US tour,
"The Songstress" tour, running until Dec 2023. She is also currently completing some new
music, so although she may not be coming to UK/Europe we may still get to
hear some new music from her in the new year.
Supporting her on the tour will be
Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds who she duetted with on "Like You Used To" from her last studio album "My Everything" in 2004. They have no fewer than twenty Grammy awards between them, Baker
eight and Edmonds twelve!
So why not post her debut album, is it really 40 years old? It's most
certainly one of the albums of the 80s which I distinctly remember being on
constant rotation in my ear lobes along with Luther's "The Night I Fell In
Love" and "Give Me The Reason" albums around the same time.
