With a vintage, black, jazz sounding vocal (think Nina Simone, Big Maybelle,
Billie Holiday and a contemporary, Lady Blackbird), it may come as a
surprise (apart from her obvious cute blonde and blue-eyed looks) to learn that singer/songwriter Sarah O'Moore is white and
Irish.
Originating in Cork she obtained a degree in Bristol and now lives in
Berlin. She has, to date, released just four singles since her first in
Jul '21, but is working on a debut EP "Social Paralysis" due on 28 Apr. Her writing, she says, delves into the shadows of societal decay influenced
by the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Van Morrison.
Her fourth single, "Troubled Mind", is released today and is not for the
faint-hearted as we think her sound and message (the song delves into themes of addiction, domestic strife, and the challenges faced by today’s youth) you will either love or
hate. It's most certainly not what you would term 'easy listening' that's
for sure, but then music isn't, and shouldn't be, all about dancing around
a handbag to twee meaningless lyrics.
