My selection of this week's best cover versions, remixes, reissues,
previously unreleased and new songs using samples or new releases with
a retro feel (Sep 2021 Wk 36). (In no particular order).
No covers per se this week but a few 'samplers' from
Alicia Keys whose new track samples Tyrone Davis "In The
Mood", Babyboy which uses elements of The Edwin Hawkins
Singers' "Oh Happy Day" and Yummy Bingham samples S.O.S.
Band's "Tell Me If You Still Care".
A reissue from last year from Ms Tonya Chereese with a
deep soul tune and Cliff Nobles 1966 Northern Soul
classic.
The remainder are mainly retro style tunes, a pair of 80s throwback
tunes from Adeshsa and the rest will appeal to Northern
/ Modern Soul devotees Moses Patrou, Curtis Harding and
The New Mastersounds who have released the same song
with three different featured artists Adryon de Leon, Josh Hoyer and
Lamar Williams, I've chosen the
Josh Hoyer version.
To make up the dozen this week I've added a couple of dance oriented
tracks Slinkie and Digital Liquid.
